And recharging at night will even out the electricity need throughout the day so that our power plants can be used more efficiently (think no idle cpu cycles).
My parents had a Pentium III 1GHz computer with Windows XP until this year and it booted faster than every other computer I have come in contact with. The Tyan server mobo might have had something to do with that though.
If they were the first privately developed liquid fueled launch vehicle to achieve earth orbit, then who was the first privately developed ANY fueled launch vehicle to achieve earth orbit?
ATV is fine with me if we can buy a flight on something man-rated. Yes there were serious proposals for Atlas and Delta and they are reliable. They wouldn't have capability to get out of orbit though. Just stick with Constellation and get it done. We have to move on.
And in private moments, the engineers are still griping about the switch to metric units for the Ares rocket. Some of them don't even know what a Newton is!
No way. Did you just make that part up?
The nationalistic part isn't a problem. It's government so they want to hype it up for the country they're working for. I'm ok with that. Fox News... meh. I used to watch that due to my flatmates, stupid but I wouldn't say it's Cold War-ish. The metric and Newton part bothers me the most if you actually experienced that.
I agree. They are getting there. We just have to let SpaceX progress as they are. It would have been nice if the last launch went ok though. They are on the right track, give them time.
Yeah, they would never use a newer "OS" in a military fighter jet either. I hope they don't use too much pre-developed or consumer level stuff for the new hardware. The less chance for failure the better. Lower level software the better also. That's one huge reason to keep manual systems around also. It saved us on many an occasion.
We've been over this before. The plans haven't really been misplaced. It would just cost way more to do this than to just make a new design and build it.
Yeah, the home Phill thing supposedly isn't very expensive but refills very slowly. Then there's that whole thing just like electric cars that you have to have enough fuel to get home since there aren't refueling stations for that stuff. You lose a lot of flexibility. Electric cars with backup generators like the Chevy Volt are a good stopgap.
I looked into one but they don't sell them in Illinois. The big plus there is that we have a ton of natural gas in the country and supposedly if you used it for vehicle fueling right now, it would be equivalent to $1/gallon gas.
Probably not the same situation but pretty awful - I had an aftermarket warranty, quite a good one actually that did fix many things for me. I noticed a problem that I thought was my transmission, and it turned out to be. I had it in to check it out and they said under warranty they could not open the transmission to diagnose a problem. My warranty only covered it in the event of a breakdown. Sure enough the warranty expired and 8K miles later the transmission shot craps. Out of luck. Arg. Looking back, I perhaps could have paid for them to open the trans, and when they found a problem it would be under warranty maybe. Anyway, I wish I would have really pressed the issue back then. $$$$$$$$$
My Logitech optical mouse is crap. I have to click a certain spot on the button really hard to get it to actually click. Also the DPI is pretty bad and I can't get to certain horizontal and vertical lines since it skips. I don't know if it's the cheapest one but I have also had great experiences with Microsoft mice.
I'm sure there will be future missions that don't require the heavy lift and are just for moving crew and also future missions that just need heavy lift and don't need to send a crew. They are definitely on the right track for that.
Yeah, who would buy it?

No it's just the "The Head" aka Karl Rove.
I knew the Cylons were behind child porn!

So once the expense of avoiding the government gets too high, then what? They won't just give up. They'll move to another country, right?
You can buy the Honda Civic GX natural gas vehicle right now if you're in New York or California.

That takes talent to browse the web with a Sybian! Playing Pitfall or Frogger would be really impressive.
AMD has a license/agreement from Intel... not that Intel likes it much anymore. It's doubtful they would give out another.

I think the President would certainly want to hear about LGBTs on Mars. The military option is not off the table.
Oooooh LGMs.... what's that?
Or blended Zunes
Hey, we've done it before, at least our freaky looking ancestors did.

Yup
Don't come any closer with that razor!
