  1. what about Echelon? on Is 'Corporate Citizen' an Oxymoron? · · Score: 1

Is it not the duty of the US to serve its companies with information eavesdropped ( or spied ) from other companies worldwide? Do not ask what you can do for your country... or did I get something wrong? Maybe the second bullet came from this direction?

  4. The Great FireWall might be real on Is China's "Great Firewall" a Fraud? · · Score: 1

I consider the control of ALL data-network access by the Chinese Governement a strategic issue. At the moment we do see the doors still wide open - as the test mentioned in the article shows. There were recently news on attempts of Cyber attacks on governements worldwide - coming - as is claimed - NOT from China. ;-) In my opinion the Chinese can shut the doors of their Great Firewall quite quick if they sense a Cyberattack targetting their own national network. This way they can prevent damage to their IT infrastructure - just in case. Censorship capability is most likely a welcome side-effect.

I love the idea. I was dreaming of a method to enter text wherever you are. With hands in the pockets or on the steering wheel to enter the outlay of the next grand idea ( probably translates as abberation ) I speculated about a glove to be used, maybe used in pairs - as certain combinations of finger-movements with one hand are difficult to achieve. (bend index and middle finger - most likely you will not be able to stretch the ring-finger)

  7. eradicate Malaria by SIT on GM Mosquito Could Fight Malaria · · Score: 1

A wild population of insects was tested by nature and evolution - they were tried and found true! If a mix of wild and GM mosquitos shows a better survival of the GM type you should have learned that your lab-conditions are not replicating the wild and not conclude that your GM moquitos are better! Envorinmentally and ecologically a better method to fight Malaria is to eradicate insects by the Sterile Insect Technology (SIT) as developed by the Laboratories of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This method has no other consequences on the environment but eradicating a single species out of a familyof hundreds. This was succesfully proved by the eradication of the TseTse Fly from Sansibar and the eradication of the Screw-worm Fly from Lybia. http://www-naweb.iaea.org/nafa/ipc/index.html Bill Gates should not have donated to a vaccine-company (which he bought himself before) but to the SIT for mosquitos which is being developed by the IAEA Labs in cooperation with the Center of Desease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, the Queen Mary University, London and the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands

  10. Re:Oh man, - shoot the bomber! on What Came First, the Violence or the Videogame? · · Score: 1

shoot the bomber! A 16mm movie with a crosshair and a fighter mockup was used to train pilots how to shoot down allied bombers! The pilots had to train shooting down allied bombers. While looking at the movie alone their pulse was normal. When trying to get the crosshair into shooting position their pulse was up to 200 and associated blood pressure! Conclusion: The very moment you take part in action, your brain will deeply ingrain the bahaviour you train. So you will not think but act when you encounter the same situation the next time! Only then it is real! How do you think do the armies of the world make neighborhood boys become murders like the US GIs in Iraq?? This is much better than dolls to pierce with bajonetts. Abrams tank crews require only 8 hours of training on the tanks because of video simulation instead of 100 without simulation! kubitus

Steve Ballmer is waving FUD again with his threat to sue "Linux"! But I think the Microsoft managers including Bill are doing some brainstorming on how to make money with FOSS. A hint is maybe the combination of the give away of the Virtual Server and together with VS support for Linux (alas not free) as well as the drop of the shieldieng of the MS Linux-Lab. BTW Linus patched the OS bridging proof of concept virus in no time (1 day) - lets see how fast MS will do it ;o)

As a matter of fact, most of the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundations 280 million dollars reported to be spent to fight malaria will go into a phramaceutical company B.G. bought a majority of shares last year even getting a penalty for not having reported of buying more than 10% of it. Some money goes to the CDC and to a UNivbersity in Britain. I would also like to get on the Time tilte page while saving taxes by re-investing into my own company.
