    UK should rather become a state of the US and should leave the EU for good. It seems to me that the UK takes '1984' as a guidebook for their plans.

    its not only the transport, it is also the fluctuations in power delivered. This caused in Germany last year a big power outage as one transmission line failed and the other lines could not accept the overload. If you have a high mountain with a basin on top and a cheap water supply at its foot, build a pumped-storage power plant. You can buy electric power cheaply to pump water up when there is low demand and sell the 80% of recovered energy when demand is high at a price twice or more of your buying cost. Why do they not generate Hydrogen and make Methanol to allow relativ safe transportation of the energy?

    absolutely correct! and an observation is not yet scientific, just because you thought up one possible explanation! Scientific method includes the necessity of a proof and/or a forecast which is to be shown correct. the reason the "self-declared scientists" posted this: it is much easier to post something than to build an artificial magnetic field and see if the cows orient themselves again to magnetic north. posting is easier than making an experiment: Q.E.D. by this posting!

    We are using DNA sequencing machines, electrophoresis readers, DNA microarray readers etc.. The software on average is usable but with flaws. The best software so far are from big names such as P@ckard etc.. and they do updates. Software from the new BioTech companies is very often requiring to run under Administrative permissions and they charge for updates - even to cover faults in their SW. I know no one who uses a FOSS OS for their analytical machines!

    please tell the US that Nazi rightist pages should be censored. And a few Sex pages do not make your youth become murders, but violent games and websites do! At least China and the US both censor Sex-related pages! And the US killed many to in the last few years - just not in front of the White house, but in the Twin Towers. I would love to see the number of occurences of severe violence exchanged with the number of sex-scenes and vice versa. Make love not war!

    You get an opportunity there! Write down the differences of both. Learn as much as you can. Take good old common sense to see what was good in the one and whats good in the other place. And also note what was bad in the old and what is bad in the new place. Then after some time look at your CV, add your new experience and rethink if you are better off at a different place.

    burn your videos to DVD-Rs. Take at least two different brands with gold reflector and make two copies. Put DVD's in lint free paper envelopes. Put envelops in tight sealing case with sikagel to take up moisture. Put box into deep freeze. Wait 20 years. I bet Video DVD's will be still readable by the optical drives available then. Take vinyl records or Schellacks: you can still get players. Take the CD - you can still play old CDs. Same will happen to a mass media such as DVD!

    Teach to ask: how - and demonstrate it! Teach to ask: qui bono - who benefits! Teach to ask why: which leads often to qui bono! As a lecturer/trainer of students from developing countries in computer troubleshooting I tell them about three levels of knowledge: level one: you hear something and find no immediate faults and contradictions - you thing you know! level two: you can ask a meaningful question adn give a meaningful answer on the topic - you have theoretical knowledge! level three: you can apply it or do it - you have mastered it!
