If your circumstances are similar to mine, you might not have been getting 7 megs; if your phone lines are old or connections corroded, your throughput is going to be BAD. When I first got DSL the modem couldn't even talk to the ISP because of the 40 year old phone lines (which I've replaced, of course).
That'll be just for the attitude of those bastards.;-)
