Of course, most Linux distros ship with support for 2 excellent audio formats out of the box: Ogg Vorbis and FLAC, both of which are better than MP3. Ogg Vorbis is a lossy CODEC which provides better quality than MP3 at a lower bitrate. FLAC is the lossless CODEC and provides CD quality with 30-60% compression. Neither contain any patents that we know of (that in itself is important) and both work great on Windows too.
Yeah, Ogg and FLAC are good. But are they supported by most portable digital audio players?
Absolutely. Recently I was watching my dad use his computer, which is kind of messed up at the moment. Some kind of dialogue box with information came up and he just clicked "OK" without reading what it said. I asked why he did that and he said "Oh, sorry. Well, you couldn't do anything, the only option was 'OK'".
Seems like users have learned to blindly click yes or whatever options there are on nagging dialogue boxes that appear at you.
I've been an Ubuntu user for a while now and I've really enjoyed the experience, though I've had some annoying experiences with glitchy programs. When Debian Etch is released, I'll be apt to get it! To see if it's more stable than Ubuntu.
So far the glitchyness of Ubuntu is the only thing about it that annoys me. Maybe Debian will be like Ubuntu without the glitches.
It's not suprising that they'd do this. After all, with such a name like "yahoo", it should be clear that you've got a SERIOUS fackin' customer on your hands here. This is fackin' terrible. I can't believe they'd do this.
Maybe it's because of the fast food? I live in England and I eat pretty much entirely home cooked and prepared meals, except maybe apart from the odd sandwich from Sainsbury's.
I recently went out to stay at a friends house for a weekend, and on the first day we ate McDonalds in the evening. The next day I was feeling pretty sick. All I ate about two burgers and some chicken nuggets.
Open the source! Open the sources for the ability to give us the pow0r!!!!! And then we can run java applications on LINUX using FREE SOFTWARE. Whoooooooorgh!!!!
I hate it too. It's become quite the buzzword. Also, no offense to most people who "blog", it seems like many of the "blogs" I've read are totally pointless. Stuff like
"So today I was feeling kinda tired and like, I went for a walk and stopped at the local McDonalds. I had a hamburger and it was good but not as good as they usually are... Dunno. I guess it's 'cause I was tired. Then I met up with John..."
Yeah, I know they're not all like that. But most of the ones which I've seen were mostly pointless and kind of boring.
As long as there are millions of people in the world, there will be many different linux distributions. Having a broad range of choices is important. Imagine if there were only 3 or 4 big linux distros.
Though I may get modded as redundant, I felt that this was important to say anyway.
There doesn't seem to be much new or interesting about the Xbox360 or then other next gen machines (apart from the nintendo revolution). It just seems to have more RAM, faster processor, etc. Thinking about it, what will the next generation consoles do that the current ones (gamecube, Xbox, etc) couldn't? Maybe games will have better graphics, but it seems to me like graphics have gotten as good as they really need to be.
Yeah, innit! Bare safe, man.
First post!

This comment is incredibly funny. I suggest that you moderate it as "Funny".
Nagging dialogboxes won't help.

Absolutely! I agree with you entirely. If I had any mod points left, I would moderate you "insightful".

Big ol' fackin CACTUS.
Thank you! I would moderate your post "informative", but for some reason I cannot moderate comments any more.
However, Linux is a monolithic kernel, and it has been successful. This is an interesting fact to consider! I will moderate your post "insightful".
Thank you, sir. This has been helpful to me, though I use Linux. I'm currently running shareaza in wine.

Bearshare, nice? Yeah, nice as long as you enjoy SPYWARE! Whoa! Your computer will be melting.
Using this amazing pow0r of making water run uphill, we could significantly improve the techology of the human race.
Thank you for this recipe! It has changed my life.
Are you sure?
Since this is an April fool's topic, I thought I'd take another chance to get modded "Redundant". Thanks.

Well, you're certainly living up to your name, Mr BadAnalogyGuy.
(Just joking, no offense meant.)

"elite"? Don't you mean 31337?
