I totally agree. Patch Tuesday hits, we test in the lab thru Thursday and on Friday push the updates via WSUS 3.0.
I really don't know what the problem is. It only takes about 4 hours of testing and less than an hour to push. No late nights, no impact, it just gets done.
Of course MS can always go the Apple route and wait months to release 100 MB+ patch rollups...
Why? So now you have to:
1.) Buy a Mac, which in the business world is FAR more expensive than say a Dell or HP.
2.) Buy Windows anyways
3.) Eventually convert all your Windows software to MacOS X. Which is VERY expensive.
Someone who has an Enterprise level agreement with Apple, let us know how much an "enterprise" level iMac costs in bulk.
I know for a fact that both Dell and HP's "enterprise" desktop systems with a 19" flat screen monitor are about $650. (HP DC7700 for example) This includes an Intel Core2 Duo, 1.0 GB of ram, an 100 GB SATA hdd, integrated Intel graphics, and a SATA DVD/CD-RW combo drive.
Dell's product is very similar but a little bit less ($750). Both systems as I said, come with a 19" flat screen.
The cheapest iMac is the $999 iMac, which is only 512 MB (but does have a larger hdd). I'd love to know the corporate pricing. To move to the 19"... add another 200 to that. Still, thats retail store, so someone kindly provide the corporate pricing.
Till Apple has prices that are similar, no large enterprise in their right minds would make the move, considering most of those, if not all of the fortune 500's are running Windows on the desktop....
When Windows 95 came out people said the same thing.
When Windows 98 came out people said the same thing.
When Windows 2000 came out people said the same thing.
When Windows Me came out people said the same thing (and were right)
When Windows XP came out people said the same thing.
Rest assured, Microsoft will do all they can to make sure Vista is very much a success. Remember, even with it's supposed bad sales, Windows Vista already has more users than MacOS as a whole...
I guess they could to a lot worse, I mean Sony's PS3 has actual hardware in it (well in the US and Japan anyways) to be able to play PS2 games, yet it doesn't work with all PS2 games...
We don't even know what the shooter used yet. Hell it could have been a 100 year old revolver... Or even a hunting rifle. It doesn't take long to reload either, and with the chaos this guy caused, its rather simple. From the audio posted on CNN, it sounds like an pistol, not a rifle too. So he gets an illegal pistol from DC or Georgia, a half dozen clips and kills 31 people...
Um, the Zune can play your MP3's from eMusic just fine, as can the iPod.
As this is the first gen Zune, the ability to upgrade the Zune's wireless is rather easy.
For me, the Zune was a no brainer, I could synch my CD's right to the Zune, I could add my huge collection of WMA files to the Zune. I don't use either iTunes music store, or the Zune music store.
Um, you got that the other way around. Microsoft was in the market with the Xbox 360 well before the AppleTV. Microsoft offered movie downloads far before Apple did with the AppleTV.
Post anything remotely pro-Microsoft, anti-Apple or anti-Microsoft and chances are your post will be modded into oblivion even when its 110% accurate...
When people say stuff like this, you are playing right into Apple's plans, and for that they charge you an extra.30 for the "right" to use non-DRM music...
Now mayhap the OP is writing about Direct3D... in that case, even DirectX 9.x's version of Direct3d features a LOT more functionality than OpenGL's most recent revision contains.
Um, this is upgrading to Vista from XP. Not to Linux.
Can Unbutu simply upgrade an XP box and migrate files and allow 99% of all the applications that were running under XP to run?
Didn't think so. Mind you I'm not saying Unbutu is worse than Vista (or better for that matter), I'm only saying that jumping up and yelling "Install Unbutu" has nothing to do with this article in any way. For the majority of people Linux solves no problems nor gives any benefit over Windows.
I don't think I've seen anything stop it from blending.
NASA TV was just showing some minor thermal blanket damage...
Actually if you look at some of the larger displays, a lot of the Windows he opens for mapping software are running Windows XP...
Since MOST OSX licenses were sold by Apple, does it really matter?

Hate to break the news to you, but Windows Mobile devices already do EVERYTHING the iPhone can.
Play music? yep
Touch screen? yep
Internet? yep
In all honesty the iPhone really is nothing new.

Quite frankly its pointless.

Dell offers BluRay in their XPS and has done so for quite a while...

It's a sad world...
VMWare would already support virtual OS X sessions under OS X, however VMWare has not done so because of concerns about just this very reason.

Sure you can, it works fine with my Zune. The Zune supports Xbox 360 playback of music, photo's and video...
And it works great.

Ok so let me get this correct, in order for his scanners to even detect Vista on the network he had to totally disable the built in firewall.
The list of open ports was THREE.
No vulnerablities were detected even with the firewall totally OFF.
Seems like (for now) Vista wins this one.

If I'm not mistaken ad-hoc over firewire was removed due to lack of interest and use
