I have heard rumors of a cypher on the street called SHA-X. It's not mathematically strong, as you so eloquently put, but it's supposed to be really good, really stong stuff. And is really asymmetrical, meaning it takes less time to decypher the message after encryption. Unfortunately it uses a semi-random keysize, so you never know the strength until you try to decrypt. It also has a key that destroys itself 48 hours later so Alice or Bob can't even tell you were ever encrypted. Only problem is the algorithm tends to overuse one particular register resulting in spontaneous cpu burnout.

But hey, if you got extra cpus...

pr comes in. day after day, the technicians couldn't understand why the thermoelectric discombubulator kept blowing fuses. they tried replacing the chickenelectrometer. they tried replacing the positronic ejector. they even tried pressing the reset button. by about the 11th day they were so sick of replacing the fuses on the thermoelectic discombubulator (which you must access with a 1m discombubulator defuser through the equivalent of a mouse hole in a panel with two giant 02 vents mounted side by side blowing in your face the whole time) just to test the new fix that they mounted the fuse box on the outside of the said module. Good thing they did... they finally figured out... it was the flux capacitor. anyways, some guy came through the room about two weeks later and said, "Ship It!" and, well you know the rest.

As far as the movies rating, I can see why it would be R, but there's nothing in there that a teenager couldn't handle. I'd have no problem bringing 14 year olds and up to the movie. Anybody out there now who's thinking of enlisting might want to go see the movie. There's some footage of solders talking about there experience that's pretty sobering.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head with that one. 17 year olds are a prime target for recuitment, and thay are uninformed enough and very suceptible the the "sales-pitch" the recruiters use. However one could also argue that they would go see the film and just not have enough experience in mere thinking to be swayed any further in one directon or the other. I only saw the move last night, a late show at that, so I am still processing it.

One more thing, that comment by many, "This is news for nerds, this discussion doesn't belong here." Keep in mind that slashdot has a very refined comment and moderation system. Go try and weed your way through the flamin trolls on yahoo message boards, you have to go through so much crap to find the equivalent of a +5 insightful/informative that you won't gain any benefit from a discussion. I see many stories I would like to see discussed in this fasion but I don't submit them cause I don't think they are news for nerds/tech. I'm glad to see this one here.
