Politics is a game. It always has been, it always will be.
Anyone who plays apologist/propagandist for either party is nothing more than a useful pawn. My pointing out that both sides play these games is a simple statement of fact, nothing more. I even gave another example of the games these people engage in. Yes, the stakes of these games are incredibly high, but you have to recognize that it is this adversarial approach that ultimately keeps things in balance in the long run. The greatest threats to the liberties of the people come from the people elected to serve (regardless of those peoples' actual intentions).
Vote gridlock, every time, for the sake of all of us.
That's primarily because they are in full lock down right now due to their deep minority status. Unity is their only hope for stopping the opposition, even on bills that the individuals disagree with the party on. When there is some wiggle room in the balance of power certain legislators are able to put their vote counter to the party because it won't matter. The democrats did exactly the same thing when they were backed into a tight minority in the 90s. Welcome to the game that is American politics.
Wait until the census comes out and the gerrymandering begins! Then we'll see some gamesmanship.
You're missing the reason for that responsiveness, which is the real reason BeOS is now more relevant than ever. The entire system was built from the ground up with deeply pervasive multithreading. A hello world app had two or three threads! In the current trend of higher and higher core counts the wisdom of this design philosophy becomes more and more apparent.
On a side-note: Will the BeOS IP become like the Commodore IP? Will every company that owns it ultimately bankrupt?
He's 74 years old, he'll never see the end of this sentence. He lived what appears to be a good life living in the country he was betraying (about 3M worth of good life from TFA). His nursing home arrangements are less than desirable but he'll still have better care than many seniors in this country.
He who writes the checks, makes the rules. When a government agency is writing the checks, they will decide who lives and dies. I do not expect others to pay for my medical needs, and I don't want anyone sending me the bill for theirs.
The primary difference is in disclosure. In a news/talk show the white house talking head has a pretty little bar at the bottom of the screen that says their name, and something along the lines of "White House Talking Head".
When agents of the government, ANY GOVERNMENT, begin executing informational warfare tactics on free people it is the duty of those people to fight back.
nah, it'd have to be the prince cooperating with an international cabal to plant explosives/incendiaries in the building and setting them off at the exact moment volunteers fly aircraft into it.
I though it was just my cynicism kicking in at first. Glad someone else noticed that this whole thing reads like a big advertisement for Intel... It is.
1. I'm tired of CNN, NBC, ABC, ect. and now even Slashdot strategically playing with words. When a Republican does something insane, 'journalists' will boldly emblazon the word Republican next to their name (i wish I was exaggerating, I've seen CNN actually put the party name in BOLD and in a different color). When a Democrat does something equally insane, the party designation is left off and is replaced with the abbreviation of their office: 'Rep.'
2. This story and the subsequent flamewar should have been filed under politics. I filter politics from the front page because of the idiocy that follows in the comments (which I have just contributed to).
Wait... so someone affiliated with the site in question admits that they block their own ads and don't see their own site in its entirety? Now that's a ringing endorsement for the advertisers.
The primary reason for our ridiculously high imprisonment rate is our ongoing "war" on drugs.
If we stopped locking up potheads and started prosecuting the people who are actually dangerous to someone other than themselves the US justice system would be a lot more efficient and considerably less crowded.
Problem being... POP MUSIC. They didn't test with classical, house, trance, or any other genre of music. Pop music is inherently distracting, that's the entire point of it. If I have pop going in the back I can't concentrate either but toss in a long symphony or even an extended instrumental house beat and I drop straight into the zone. The music slides into the backdrop and masks all of the other distractions.
If a person is shown to repeatedly endanger the public they shouldn't be tagged with a little "I've been naughty" sign. They should be locked away where they can't hurt anyone.

Never has a person had a more appropriate user name. Can we still be friends?

The Team Fortress II medigun technology is revealed!
Team Fortress is overrun with cheaters and Valve seems completely unable to do anything about it.

An excellent excursion into the math of the subject, but still not an answer to my question.
Why is a wave of pressurized air not considered sound?
What is the difference that I'm not seeing? Are we arguing semantics?
wall of air = pressure wave
sound = pressure wave
therefore:
wall of air = sound
Please explain to this simpleton where I'm misinformed?
Score:-1, Facepalm

Fair enough. I stand corrected.

My T2 drone swarm would disagree. I've swatted a few overconfident idiots who thought they could tackle and burn solo.

Unfortunately, most of the really effective methods for debugging society are illegal.
They're right, text speech doesn't degrade literary skills... it's an indicator of deep-seated brain damage. They had cause and effect reversed.
The only person whose time was wasted was yours. Your conversation you posted was with a chat bot (I'm about 95% certain).
I generally put them on one-off tasks with a high level of technical difficulty. They do the job extremely thoroughly once and then never again.
