When a person resolves to end it, there's a sense of relief; something to look forward to. It's perverse but having experienced it first-hand I can tell you its very true. I'd likely not be here if I had been living alone at the time.
One of the first things that comes back when you start taking antidepressants is your motivation. You still have the suicidal thoughts, but now you have the motivation and energy to go through with it.This is one of the reasons antidepressants are so dangerous to adolescents and kids. You combine motivation, negative outlook, and the impulsive nature of youth and you end up with a massive spike in suicides/attempts during the first months of antidepressant therapy.
Ammonia based cleaners (particularly Formula 409) are extremely effective at removing cigarette tar buildup. At my previous tech job we actually had a wash station similar to a automotive parts washer that we built because of the handful of chain-smokers we provided service to. Our warranty also explicitly excluded fans damaged by tar buildup and the resulting heat damage. We structured our fees in such a way that it encouraged our addict customers to bring in their computers regularly for cleaning instead of having to buy a new motherboard/processor/power supply every 18 months.
You forget that they could give every able-bodied Chinese citizen a pointy stick and dump them on our shores. We'd be so hopelessly overrun our tech wouldn't matter.
That's the funny thing, because I never said anything about killing them. A life sentence (a real one) would have exactly the same outcome I described.
It's in the title, and it will now likely be in the title of every reply. I think it's interesting that a nation with Germany's history would still think it's a good idea to control its citizens in such a way.
You said you own a Blu-ray player and the HDMI TV to work with it? Congratulations, you own at least two kill-switched devices. Look up HDCP revocation lists some time if you want blood to shoot from your eyes.
smaller profits == less jobs, equipment and research money. We can't really expect our CxOs to go without the pink marble in their summer home master bath now can we? Their cut comes off the top before the budget is written for all of the other stuff.
Unfortunately lawyers LOVE loopholes/weak points; any law that lacks absolute ironclad specifics about implementation WILL be subverted immediately. This is how lawmakers can say "I did something about this" without actually changing anything.
No, it's a giant economic sandbox with spaceship fights. Eve's economy is almost entirely player-driven, so the layers of complexity are almost impossible to measure.
That things like this don't happen more often is the real surprise. The most successful organizations in the game are either pathologically paranoid, real-life friends, or sociopaths like goonfleet.
First one, then the other. There WILL be a lot of them.
You're right on the money here.

Just a reminder, there is no -1:Disagree mod. Troll, Flamebait, and Overrated are not substitutes.
Their women and political dissidents most likely would like to see Western laws in place... just sayin'
Impressive, I expected this thread to be Godwinned in the first 2 or 3 posts.
If they did their time they'd be buried in a state-owned plot with a small placard to mark the spot and this whole discussion would be nonexistent.
The Werlé-Lauber effect sounds like something physics students would have to memorize an equation for.

On the topic of no one actually informing themselves, here is an interesting and very accessible article on the impact of malpractice insurance:

This isn't a first post, but it's the only Ice Pirates reference on Slashdot.
Welcome to the internet, please don't feed the trolls.
I see the problem, you bought an HP laptop. Those things are absolute crap and have been since the end of the P3 era, possibly before.

claiming to be this guy in various contexts. Streisand effect here we come.
SHUT. DOWN. EVERYTHING.
Not necessarily immunity, but resistance. Some factor that helps the person live long enough to produce offspring.
Also, antibodies are passed through breastmilk, so some acquired traits can be passed directly to the next generation.

Not really, but they are quite a bit friendlier.
