Also, it may be the case that in order to get the various certifications (that CE mark or whatever it is) you need to make it so it cant be easily diassembled (I have no idea)
That's doubtful; That's what the separate power brick is for.
I think the rule is that anything that has more than 60 Volts RMS going into it has to be certified. Electronics companies avoid having to re-certify their entire devices every time they make a change by using separate, generic power adaptors.
Okay, as much as I would like to see an atheist leader in the U.S., I doubt Bill Gates as President would be a good thing.
Heck, I don't even care if the President is atheist. As long as he has the good sense to recognize the importance of good government, the usefulness of science, and the value of separation between church and state---and act accordingly---the fact that he does or does not go to church on his days off is really not something I care about.

Presumably it encourages competition by lowering the barrier to entry into the market. No idea whether that actually happens.
It also has "a full office software" and a "clicking button".
And he mispronounced Ubuntu. Who the heck pronounced it "oo-BUN-too"? The video on the Ubuntu 6.10 CD demonstrates how to pronounce Ubuntu several gazillion times.
So, basically, this guy denies the existence of programmers and organizations willing to participate in the FLOSS movement, because he doesn't understand the mechanism by which it operates?
Some are small, like the use of Camel Case for function names, while others have tangible business value
If it doesn't have tangible business value, why is upper management trying to dictate it?
If CamelCase matters for function names, then what you probably *really* need is a change-controlled interface between the different components of your system.
This will cause a social revolution in Afghanistan. People will now be able to build their own 4004-based, and use them to download movies and MP3s against the will of the Taliban...
Perhaps they recompiled it without changing anything?
Eh? Aren't there already Sci-Fi museums? What about stuff at places like Disneyland?

That word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Microsoft has broken the law before, and been found guilty. Nothing substantial happened.
Geez! It's like nobody on Slashdot has ever heard of UTF-8 or Punycode.
Patents aren't a threat to innovation. They encourage innovation! People will innovate by coming up with new ways to work around the patents!

These fusion reactors produce net energy? I thought they didn't.
This isn't cold fusion, as far as I can tell.
News flash: I.T. projects sometimes run hugely over-budget and get cancelled. Linux is not magic pixie dust that solves this problem.
Oh wait, that's not news.
Did you at least read the scientific paper, or did you base your conclusion on an article from the Globe and Mail?
... do they think we're going to run binary blobs on our computers in order to use the CPU?

This is clearly not a Linux geek.
Please define "ft" and "air". The standard definitions don't seem to work in this context.
Here is a clue for you.
My thoughts exactly.
... for Web95.
Like that's ever stopped anyone. Doesn't the U.S. still deploy land mines?

Where have I heard that sort of thing before?
A lot of my spam comes from the future!
