I really don't understand your complaint about people complaining. If otherwise happy customers didn't complain when new policies are introduced that they don't like then the company would be robbed of important feedback. If a company I don't like does something else that I don't like I probably wouldn't post message about how terrible their new policies is. But if you really want to use their services but there new policy is making you really mad, well then the company probably wants to hear about it.

So quite your bitching about other people bitching.

Thank you for your kind words about Canada. For record I would like to state that when the current Conservative party won its first Minority governments, one of their agenda items was to deregulate the banking and industry. In the words of the Finance Minister "We want to introduce more innovation into the mortgage markets like our American cousins".

Thank goodness that they only had a minority government and their initiatives in this area failed. If they had succeeded, we would be in as big a mess as everyone else. Of course they didn't stop them from claiming credit for our mild recession. (They can take credit for it only by their failure to get their own way)

They now have a majority government, so we will have to see how big a mess they can make. Dave

The emerging middle class in China well soon have the political clout to start demanding REAL reforms and REAL environmental standards very soon. Their domestic consumer demand will catch up to their production and then you can start bitching that there are no more cheap imports and you will have to wait a bit while your domestic production ramps back up. So the good news is that your kids will have homegrown jobs :)

The big hope is that China does a better job then the west did with the last remaining basket case Africa.

The thing that drove me crazy for the last 30 years was the extreme protection of agriculture both in North America and in Europe. If your not going to allow the developing world to work their way out of poverty by selling you low tech products like food then they are going to find other sectors within which to use their primary competitive advantage (labor in manufacturing assembly or services)

On the positive side, any un-warranted surveillance has to justified after the fact. Law enforcement is required to report actions taken which can then be audit by the courts. Not excusing this bill in any way, just saying...

    - S. Harper

One of the funnier sides of elections is listening to politicians be so logically inconsistent and not even being aware of it. For example our local Conservative MP droned on about how well Canada is doing and about how much was due to his governments good management over the last 5 years. Then immediately warned of the dire and irreversible damage that would be befall Canada if they didn't get a majority. So which is it? Can you manage well despite a minority government? or does a minority government mean woe for all? Cause you can't have it both ways.

The text of the first reading of the bill is here: http://www2.parl.gc.ca/HousePublications/Publication.aspx?Docid=4740653&file=4

It says that officers can intercept private communications without a warrant if they fell that an offense is or would be committed immediately. (this part is probably in response to a real world case where officers were witnessing a child being molested in real time via internet video and needed to track the offenders location through ISP's in a hurry in order to stop the offense in process)

Further on in the bill is says that other exigent circumstances may allow interception without a warrant.
It reads like a bunch of other laws that are "Safe when used as directed".

Of course another solution would be to fund the courts so that proper judicial oversight can be in place *even* when your in a hurry.
