of course, the thing i miss most since moving pretty much exclusively to linux is all the wonderful marketing crap telling me how wonderful the buggy software i was using was. it's a shame that with all of the linux distros i use i have to just see for myself how well it works.

That is a good point.. No matter how well designed the search engine is, i for one would not use it (putting aside my anti-ms bias) purely because you are asking questions through the services of a company who obviously has other interests... I realise i'm not explaining myself well, so an example: How must trust could you put in the answer to the question "What is the most secure operating system for my business?" when asking a company whose primary income is selling operating systems? (once again, i'm not meaning this from my anti-ms point of view, even if i thought that windows *was* the most secure (cough) operating system i wouldn't be asking them for an unbiased answer).

grammer nazis (and speiling ;) nazis) will have a field day with this post, but i have a headache, so i don't care. :)

i know i'm going to get flamed for being pedantic here, but your statement "Safari passes Acid2 if and only if WebKit passes Acid2" isn't true. If you look into your own link to "if and only if" (or "iff") you will see that you are also implying that WebKit (in any other project) will only pass Acid2 if Safari does (the easiest way to think of iff is as a 'two way' if statement, ie 'a iff b' means 'a is true only if b is true, and b is true only if a is true').

'updates' and 'new releases' are two different things... if we carry out the comparison more correctly we will see that ubuntu's 6 month release schedule beats the living shit out of microsoft's. If you are worried about a 6 week delay, then microsoft is probably *not* the company to compare it too...

as much as i love NX, i'm not sure how this is relavent. NX is for X11 only (think linux). Perhaps you are referring to nxproxy (or is it nxagent?) where you can tunnel a VNC or RDP session through a NX box? Unfortunately this only helps over slow links-- over a 100Mb/s ethernet connection you may as well use VNC/RDP directly.
