    Except that Crashplan will post you out a drive, for you to do a backup to, post back to them, and import into the datacenter..... Same for recovery if you really need it.

    . You can't have both old age and increasing amounts of births per person.

    But that's easily solved. All the evidence shows that if you reduce the rate of infant mortality, you reduce the no of births per person at the same rate. That's why most developed countries average 1 or 2 births per couple, and most developing countries average 10. It's why 10 was the average in Victorian England, but 2 is the average now....

    It's one way to get a foot into getting into the police force in a capacity *other* than being a bobby on the street. I know a person who did it in an effort to get a job in the comms infrastructure.

    Most of the time the real exchange rate is $1 = £1 to actually buy stuff. Yes, we basically pay twice as much for everything as you do. Yes it sucks.

    I wonder if/when any cloud services will offer the option of letting you automatically keep a copy of your cloud data on your home computer's local drive? That seems like it would be a good feature to have.

    If you have carrier redundancy, the IP6 stack can/will have *both* sets of IPs active at once, and you decide which gets used outgoing at the router. IPv6 actually includes multi-homing, unlike IPv4....

    Another 1.5TB hard drive? Differential backups. Sensible selection of what really needs to be backed up, rather than just the blanked coverage most people try....

    It's the same here with the fire service and ambulance service. Free, unless it's a false alarm.

    He doesn't talk about "migrating off" so much as "spreading out" we would still need to solve the class of problems you discuss. but it makes sense to get *some* of the population off this rock, and as far away as possible, as soon as possible...

    Or instead of the "you have x minutes left" counters that get displayed in a web page on some hotspots, have a "more coffee" button, that places your order at the till to be delivered to you at your table. I like this idea.
