Time and OUR money spent on what amounts to a "suggestion" regarding energy efficient servers, coming from a body that (apparently) has none of their own. A suggestion, BTW, that any competent person in IT already knows about, but most CFOs/CEOs don't (or don't particularly care about).
Add to this the recent dissertation on the internet given by Mr. Stevens of the other body, and I'm guessing that not a whole lot of people would feel inspired to take ANYTHING coming out of these folks' mouths seriously regarding technology OR energy. I know I don't.
"Why is it that every time the media starts to talk about the internet they feel compelled to bang on about paedophiles and terrorists and generally come over like a cross between Joe McCarthy and the Childcatcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?"
The author's initial response (because it sells copy) was dead on...
"Your computer may have already been taken over by terrorist pedophiles - details at 11..."
Yep. Remember one ad I saw last year, seeking someone with 5 years of Server 2003 experience. Sorry, but only the guys that WROTE it saw that much of it, and I think they were making a wee bit more than 28K per annum. I wish I had kept a copy of that for posting...
Fire is hot, dog poop stinks, and water is slightly damp.
Any coincidence that San Jose is in the heart of the Ninth Circuit?
Seriously, this guy needs to be slapped around with a trout or something...
Speaking only for myself, I feel as though I've been pretty damned fortunate. I've had several jobs over the course of my working life, and I can honestly say I enjoyed ALMOST all of them. Since the.com bubble burst, I've had to take a couple of jobs I would not have considered if not for being driven by hunger, but even those jobs were OK (or at least had the illusion of being OK by virtue of affording me the opportunity to continue to eat, keep a roof over the family's head, etc.)
Is satisfaction with a job due to the work, or to the benefit from it?
I've used them both with CD players and cell phones, and I have to agree, they feel horrible. Has anyone EVER had one fit inside their ear AND stay put?
As far as the hearing loss goes, I didn't use mine enough to notice a difference, but I can see where it could happen. You can overdo ANYTHING...
Is is practical? If the vehicle is going to travel more slowly than what passes for normal on most freeways, how it's going to avoid road rage incidents?

Sorry, "a +1" should have read "up"...
Somebody please mod this a +1 for the B5 reference...

Time was when I'd have been thoroughly surprised at this level of naivete. Here lately, not so much...
Blame the politicians. The hot air generated during the Alito hearings alone should have burned a hole in something...

Gee, I'm stunned. Flabbergasted, even...
I switched to AVG exclusively on my machines at home; less footprint, less resources used. I feel about as safe as anyone can these days...
That is just so wrong, on so many levels. Besides, you could just hit a mall and find any number of REAL drunken Santas...
