    During the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum, (the largest climate temperature spike found so far), the global climate became much wetter. Terrestrial species extinctions did not increase. Mammals in particular flourished and diversified. There is no evidence of fresh water or food shortages during this time.

    Cell phone companies have had to deal with special local taxes for years. Any company that delivers products and has to collect sales tax has to deal with differences in local sales tax.

    The tax system in the US seems to be more about subterfuge and camouflage than any sound fiscal policy.

    I originally tried Slackware because I read somewhere that it was the distribution most similar to Unix. Other than more manual configuration, it seemed pretty much the same as other distributions.

    Has it been confirmed that MTV did the bleeping?
    I don't know how videos get distributed, but it could have been the artist or label that censored it or even some legal reason that forced MTV to do it.

    I'd like to see this compared to Hubble (but not enough to actually look it up). Seems like Hubble would have a less obstructed, steadier view, but SOFIA has got to be cheaper to operate and easier to maintain and upgrade.

    Actually, the poorer you are, the more "benefits" you get from the government. Rich folks pay far more to the government than they get back as "benefits".

    Sure, govt. employees can pull your records, but if these particular records were checked for non-police enforcement reasons, it is illegal and the violators can be prosecuted.
    And yes, they do log that activity.

    Net neutrality is around #75 on my priority list of important issues to consider when electing a president.

    Besides, net neutrality would be legislated by the congress, not the president. The next president will have very little impact on net neutrality.

    Government dictated mandatory retirement is wrong. If I am capable and want to work past the age of 65 it is none the government's business. It should be strictly between me and my employer.

    With Win2K Pro, FF2, and NoScript - I opened the test link in a new tab (the way I usually surf) and clicked the embedded flash so NoScript would allow it. As described, the clipboard was hijacked for all tabs and other apps that I checked. After I closed the tab containing the malicious Flash, the clipboard functioned normally without restarting FireFox.
