In my cheese's eaters country, this words imply that anyone can have / express any opinions, till their expression doesn't directly harm anyone else.
No one, in my country, could force anyone (muslims, jews, etc.) to read (and buy...) any newspaper.
Charlie has opinions and publishes them freely, it's a normal thing.
No one can decide which opinion anyone else should have, it's also a normal thing.
The murders are trying to force a prohibition on our society, on their sole purpose. They want impose which opinion should be allowed or not.
I'm surprised to see that this simple freedom principle isn't admitted in U.S.
I'll just buy the next Charlie's numero, even if i'm not on their ideological side. They can kill journalists, but the ideas and opinions can't be killed.
I reiterate: What we need is for ISPs to block packets originating from their network that that don't have correct return IP addresses;
Imho, in the case of an UDP RDDoS, it seems unfeasable to me. In a nowaday common ISP, networks are very very intricated and the cost to decide for each datagram if we've a valid OIP is far too heavy, and that's maybe impossible if not dangerous with a living network.
Requiring future employees Facebook profiles access is just dumb.
Job seekers just have to make one more profile (preferably when registering the first time), a fake, neutral profile (name.firstname instead of firstname.name, etc.). I bet one day you 'll find specialized services for maintening fake/neutral profiles. Facial recognition should not be a trouble with "adequates" shooped profile pictures.
As i see it and think KarlIsNotMyName expresses it.
The morality in human's societies was 'builded' as a tool by our specie on a long period, it is a survival trait. In fact, morality does not equate the specie's survival, mainly because the specie and its survival aptitude takes precedence over the human society morality.
From the point of view of our specie, the only behaviors considered as 'moral' are the ones that tend to improve its own survival chances on a long term. The morality in human's societies is mainly her derived work.
Therefore, the morality of individuals is not independent of survival considerations, wathever the individuals sanity or their views. Our mind is mainly the result of our specie's survival ambitions on thousands years, we cannot cut that link without loosing our proper identity as individual, our will is only the expression of our specie's will to survive at any cost, no more, no less.
>> Science and religion deal with two different domains.
To me, it seems that religions tend mainly to stand as a code of conduct for human societies.
However, moral code is in the science domain because this concerns us, we humans, as a specie.
The right or wrong behaviors must be viewed from the point of view of human specie's survival.
Objectively, the ethic is a survival trait that improves perpetuation chances for our specie.
That's why there is so many religions with similar 'don't be evil' like code of conduct,
even in little human groups lost in deep forests.
The religions was, somewhat, some sort of tools designed to ensure proper functionning of society (from perpetuation point of view) at times and epochs where societies had not disposed of large, efficient informational and educational infrastructures. Religions are now more "toxic" than useful in western world (condom, abortion, familly planning, grow and multiply, etc.) but still remain partialy usable in the less evolved parts of the world.
For us, science better fits our needs, the religions shouldn't be more than a memory part of our common identities.
Successfully recovered the related bad sectors, thanks to ddrescue and a screwdriver
For whom could be concerned, i have used my best floppy drive (from an old 80286 i don't even remember the brand), ddrescue with -R 2000 and a screwdriver to "lowering" the diskette while ddrescue tries the remaining 3 bad sectors. I got a complete recover and a full CRC match of the archive.
Surprisingly, there is an AOL floppy in the pile with only the write-protect hole. The floppy is almost fully readable, two unreadable sectors at first try (CRC), so it is probably fully readable with some insistence.
Floppies last at least as long as cheap writable CDs, in my experience, as long as you store them in a nice metal box with a tight-fitting lid. Don't leave them in the sun, on top of a speaker magnet, or in the baby's diaper bag - treat 'em just like 1600 bpi 9-track streamers.
The related floppies were stored in two nice box with a tight-fitting lid, in a "clean" closet far away from any EM source.
The 5¼ and the 3½ FD are for the most fully readable (all < 1995), the 3½ HD are more often the ones with defects (all < 2000, most between 1995 - 1998 i guess).
The problem with signed BIOSes is that the verifying process could fail due to a current BIOS defect resulting from, at your choice, obsolescence, incompabilities from motherboards/CPUs's, previous failed BIOS update, etc..
In that case, the BIOS update becomes impossible, even for many dual-BIOS motherboards.
Syndicate was a very good game, mainly because of his humor and of his lack of political correctness (the 'persuasertron', the flame thrower and the awful civilian screams , etc.).
I doubt that EA could really make a real remake of this game, that will probably be just a gentle ersatz.
Adapt speed limits seems a better way to reach a fluent traffic and save fuel.
In addition, the proposed device does not handle the other vehicles that could force you to inadequate low speed.
FYI, check this page source code. You'll find some jQuery code. It's funny how some articles here seem being related to Slashdot's tech...
We have to found a way to honour his memory.

Did 4chan brought you more happiness than pain/anxiety since it's beginning ? How is it going today?
IANM, #14022, but you're not even a prime one. And you're belong to Z.

This is more of a loss of instrument data problem.
FYI, there is always, as a backup, conventional (non electronic) flight instruments on longhauls. Always.

Done.
That's what she tells you, but that's not what she really thought.
The talent of this man has a major part in what has made our world today.
His contribution was essential and it is perceptible throughout the world today.
He deserves all the honors, if not more, than a talented salesman gadget.
Paix à ta mémoire, l'ami. Ce soir j'arroserai dignement ton départ.

With tech tools, the better way to create envy for something you're selling is to give a try to your futurs consumers.

So the whole INTERNET is in your corporate perimeter ?
I really hate this assumption that INTERNET could be a corporate controled area.
Even a simple monitored HTTP access is yet a FULL UNRESTRICTED INTERNET, because YOU HAVE NO CONTROL on any external HTTP end point.
If you really need to RESTRICT INTERNET, unplug the cables. No other ways.

If cost of security > business value then out of business. Convenience is an empiric way to estimate effective cost of security.
May Slashdot be with you. Tempus fugit, we will miss you more than some Arch-CEO (e.g. SJ, BG).
Protips, Mr DARPA, the "vehicle" is certainly gone back to 1985, Hill Valley, California.
Don't mention it, for that was my pleasure.
