A few years ago I worked for an engineering office that had something similar. Boss didnt care when we came in, just had to work at least 8 hours a day. It was pretty nice to be able to sleep in when I wanted to, and still have a job that paid better than $20/hour.
the government in the US has no standing in dictating what academics say.
Thats BS. They do it through corporations that print textbooks. I have 3 kids in public schools, have you read a recent textbook lately? Hell, just look at the list of words they "cannot use".
"These devices are just repositories for stolen music"
Based on that, are they requesting payments from hard drive manufacturers as well? How about computer resellers?
Microsoft isnt around to "make people happy". They are in it to make money, period. Case in point- Vista Utimate edition is $400. Thats $100 more than the whole base system Dell was selling a while back, with XP installed. Granted, most Slashdot readers arent buying those base systems. But I bet a lot of them are running Linux systems they built for less than Vista Ultimate.
The way I understood it, is that not all HDMI connections will support HD content. Especially those on older equipment. So a lot of people will buy new HD DVD or BlueRay players, and they will not get the "full deal" even thought their monitor/TV will support the resolution.
I also thought XP will not support HD content at all, and Vista only will thru DRM.
Doesnt matter...the DRM will "dumb it down" anyway, unless you have a true digital HDMI connection.
Then it looks just like regular DVD. So whats the point?
the owner proudly gives him a nice handgun that looked like its bullets could pierce thick armor!
WTF??
FWIW...I saw Borat today, and lets not forget that the gun dealer wouldnt sell to him...
I thought it was damn funny...I took my 15 year old son and his friend too.
My state, (Oregon), is already testing a GPS system. They want to track us for road taxes. Apparently our gas taxes arent enough, especially with so many people purchasing hybrids.
If they decide they want it, then we all have to get a "little black box" installed in our cars. Some suspect they will also start charging us "congestion taxes" as well. The receivers will be at the gas stations, and will assess your mileage and add the taxes to your bill when you purchase fuel.
Sure there is. Air America and NPR.
The show I listen to is a local show, and yes its conservative. I dont listen to any of the national guys. (I used to listen to O'Reilly, but even he is too much nowadays.)
If I need liberal news, I can read the Oregonian or the New York Times. (Hell, just watch the news on TV);-)
Last I read, WMP11 adds DRM restrictions to your own cds that you rip. You cant move them to different computers, and they are restricted on your PC while you have them on your MP3 player.
I dunno, I love my RadioShark. The building where I work doesnt get AM reception, and I like to listen to local AM talk radio while sitting on my ass in front of a computer all day.
I set up the RadioShark at home for recording, and I listen to the shows the next day.
Yes, it only records WMA, but so what? I have to use Media Player at work anyway, they wont let us install anything else. As for the two-hour limit, its fine. I just set mine up to record two 2-hour sessions. And so far the reception at home is great too.
The assertion that you have intrinsic rights by virtue of being a human, or a christian, or whatever, is groundless, so it cannot be used to build policy.
Spoken like a true commie....
You obviously are not a US citizen, or you didnt read the US Constitution.
I would have to go with Google. Wikipedia is the op-ed page of the internet. Just a bunch of cranky old farts who want the world to know they have two brain cells and a keyboard.
I gotta say, that kinda makes sense. It does sound fishy. I have bought stuff from Lik-Sang in the past, they sell a ton of accessories. And are about the only place to find controllers & such for older systems.
So does this mean people cant sell them on Ebay either?
Whats to keep some Japanese seller to buy up a bunch and resell them on Ebay worldwide? Or an American seller?
(when the first movie came out he somehow got the studio to agree to give him virtually all of the royalties, IIRC)
I dunno about that...I read that the original contract for the actors (who were all unknown at the time) was to give them a small payment up front, then they all get merchandise royalties for the rest of their lives.
As for Lucas being arrogant & pretentious..I will agree with that. He seems that way to most people I talk to.
I gotta call BS on "making it up as he went...he has said in interviews that he was working on the stories (note plural) for years. I also remember a 9-book series that came out in the late 70s / early 80s. It was all nine Star Wars stories. And Im pretty sure it was before ESB came out.
Just wait...soon, would-be thieves will have the software and a PDA to roam parking lots at the mall or whatever and be able to know exactly what you purchased and put in your trunk. Could be particularly interesting at Christmas time....isnt technology great?
Sounds like a bad idea to me. The current system works fine. Has for 200 years.
With this in place, GW would have won in a landslide in 2004. (instead of just a small percentage.)
People say their vote doesnt count nowadays...this would guarantee it.
Democrat Charles Schumer is also one of the authors....why is it that the media never mentions stuff like that?
Then why do they need to sell us One Care?

Good deal. And Rumsfeld resigning is way better news than moonbat Pelosi running the House. God help us all.....

Talk about a "slippery slope"!

Yeah, my state (Oregon) uses "vote by mail." Talk about a system ripe for fraud!
Maybe they dont use Windows software on their computers??
