I tend to agree that people record shows just so they dont miss them, not to skip commercials. But the fact that they are "forcing" it on me...that pisses me off.
I dont even have a DVR yet, I still use my VCR. Works great, quality is fine (its just TV), and they cant do anything to control what I record...ever.
Most likely the Indian casinos are behind it.
Just up the Interstate 5 corridor, from the Oregon border to Seattle, it seems like there must be a friggin casino every 20 miles or so.
Are there legal concerns that I should be looking at, here?
Just because their machine isnt working? No.
Thats like suing because the pen they told you to use was out of ink.
Wow..
Tax dollars should go toward protecting the borders, protecting the people, and the operation of government (creating laws, etc). Churches used to take care of the "least among us", and thats how it should be. Its not governments job.
Please let us know where you can get blank cds for 3 cents ea!
Even the crap no-name Chinese-made discs at Frys run about 7 cents ea.
Best name-brand deal I had lately was 200 TDKs at Costco for $19.
My first machine was the VIC-20 in the 8th grade or so...1980.
That machine was great! Graduated to the C-64 a couple years later, and I used that until 1988 or so.
I also fail to see how any of it's competitiors are "cheaper and reasonable" by any stretch of the word. Do you live in Bizarro world, where Comcast doesn't charge $60+ a month and cap your speeds at roughly double the dialup rate?
Hmm... I have 3Mbit Verizon DSL. Checked regularly with DSL Reports, I have the speed I pay for. I get to use the browser I want. I pay $29/mo.
AOL can suck it. (And btw, Comcast is $42/mo here in my area.)
My first dialup account was AOL back in the early 90s...it was ok, but customer service sucked, and the connection was sketchy at best.
Im not really a M$ fan, but this is just stupid.
I say M$ should just not license any of their software for use in the EU any more.
Then let the people deal with their government.
My building here in Portland recently upgraded to these "smart elevators".
They are not so smart. They go to random floors all the time, sit for absurdly long times at floors (or close the door before you can get in)-- all random.
It was better with the old ones.
A violation of "freedom of speech" would be the feds telling Symantec that they cant create the software in the first place. Restricting where they sell it is not. The first Amendment only guarantees freedom to create speech/expression, not an audience for said expression.
By your theory, do you think that porn not being sold to minors is a violation of the publisher's free speech "rights"?
What kills me, is I downloaded a dozen or so songs from iTunes, but I dont have an iPod. After looking at the iTunes software, I thought I could convert them to use on my Rio mp3 player. The software says it will convert AAC to mp3. Fine.
But no such luck, iTunes files (even older songs) are "protected".
So if I want to use them, I have to make a cd, then rip them back to mp3, getting crappy quality. (copy of a copy)
So, no more iTunes downloads for me.

You know what? Its my friggin inbox. If I didnt ask, and its not a personal email, then I dont want to hear it. Keep'em the f**K out.

Their "non-fiction" book went from 173 to 53 on the Amazon.uk bestseller list in one day... Watch them drop the suit after they make their millions...
