    If this new system is equally effective at taking down airplanes, then that would be a big boost to existing anti-air capabilities that rely on anti air flak or machine guns (which have relatively short range) or on surface-to-air or air-to-air missiles (which can possibly be avoided by flares or complex maneuvering). So all thats left really is that if the ability to detect and track a target meaning more emphasis will need to be placed on stealth.

    What about the movie V for Vendetta that demonizes the British Government?

    This is really not much different from the movie Red Dawn except that in this case the war was brought by a lunatic terrorist who fooled the Russians into waging war with the Americans. Sounds much like a Tom Clancy scenario to me.

    There's a big difference between software and hardware my friend. The first of which is safety: when a TV or Car blow up or otherwise severely malfunction it is not tolerated and therefore companies that make those products have much different cycles of testing and engineering (Waterfall development cycles). Software on the other hand has much more leniency for most fields since it has the capability of being continually improved and has a tendency to be rushed through development with that in mind (Spiral development cycles)... this is where the the comparison breaks down between the seeming reliability of hardware versus software.

    You can't tell because there's a giant tarp made of proprietary cloth under the shingles that magically appears to absorb all the water. By the way have you noticed the bathroom tile is all moldy and it gets a bit drafty in here?

    The "federals" also allowed slavery when the constitution was written. The point of it is that it can be changed through amendments as changing times require changing purpose. Wrongs that couldn't originally be righted can through time be resolved.

    probably not the best example since gold farming is typically against the rules for most MMOs.... however there are certainly plenty of people who game for their job, such as GMs and testers for said MMOs.

    that seems no different than the world of PCs and 3rd party applications. Since phones are becoming more like PCs by the year, why should the expectations based solely on support be any different? I mean its not like the support people are incapable of figuring out a problem is caused by a 3rd party software and telling the user to bother them instead.

    I like the free windows 7 RC1 too.... but there's no way in hell I'm paying $300 for the real deal once it times out next year. I'll just look for an OEM copy for half the price or less if I must, thankyouverymuch :P

    I don't have a problem with it so long as they're only sweetening the deal with cool extras, as opposed to locking out say a significant portion of the story/game play that would otherwise be there if you were the first buyer.

    but to me in this case they're releasing non-free content on release day that they could have just as well included in the retail version of the game (well except for maybe the extra test cycles it might have caused and pushed the date back more). Still it does seem a little wrong.

    That was my impression as well. Also with Moblin you see a drive to push the lower end processors which have the potential to sell more units than their more expensive cousins that run Windows.

    without the use of most of the computing power when you actually put linux on it, it seemed gimped to begin with. In other words they weren't exactly being open source friendly from the start any way.

    Go ahead and cross off the Time Traveler's Wife from that list, its not really Sci-fi and its been getting low to mid range review scores anyway.

    The Surrogates does seem kinda cool though, looking forward to see how that one does.

    Now this is one series of games I would much rather see a fresh re-imagining of beyond all others. Just so long as its not like what they did with the Bionic Commando (that is to say a very generic platform 3rd person shooter).

    And you think we can afford having more people in prison as opposed to spending more to make sure we better filter those who deserver to be in prison? Unless I'm mistaken, I think having fewer people in prison means more people paying taxes and less people getting fed on our buck.

    wouldn't it make more sense to just make there be more space to have more batteries come standard in the first place? Maybe even limit the top speed of the car, or shut off all unnecessary auxiliary devices such as dvd players and navigation to conserver power when it gets down lower then 5% juice left to allow you to more easily get to a charge station.

    Perhaps a better idea would be to include some bicycle pedals so if you run out of juice you can Flintstone it to the nearest charge station.

    While certainly true of laptop manufacturers, I believe car manufacturers typically get more scrutiny when it comes to how far it can go, simply because it matters more than whether or not your laptop only get 60% of advertised life in real world conditions. When driving is concerned real world conditions are much more obvious, since having a battery rating based on an idled car means its not going anywhere, hence defeating the purpose of its ability to transport things.

    Thats because it is piss poor beer, even by American (I fall in that group) standards. The only time I consider it somewhat acceptable to drink Bud light or Miller Lite or similar is when:

    A) i'm given the beer for free
    B) i'm playing beer pong
    C) i'm feeling sensitive about my weight, or i just ate at a buffet or something (yes they are mutually exclusive :P)

    I still ritually begin each night at a bar with a Guinness or Smithwick's or something with taste because they're worth paying a few extra bucks for over the light ones, but I think most people just go with it simply because it is a couple or few bucks cheaper than a good beer.
