Now we just have a majority of opinionated, non-technical idiots and children who once installed Linux screaming about technology they know absolutely nothing about. And those guys who whine about how shit things are, and yet still manage to post.
Be lucky you are close enough to an exchange. Out here I am limited to ADSL 'Max' as they call it, the 'Up to 8MB' thing. Of course, I get about 2MB. Our local exchange is going under an LLU soon, so I can only hope it'll improve, but I reserve my right to doubt. I think the only time we will see a good ISP is if a load of P2Pers/Geeks or whatever set one up with the purpose of providing a really good service.
Exactly. Thank you. The ISPs should pay. They are the ones providing the service: Etiher reduce the service you are selling to what you can actually handle, or upgrade the lines so you can sell the higher rate.
It's ridiculous, This is like a hotel overbooking rooms because people don't turn up, then telling the people staying in the rooms they have to pay to have the rooms built so they can give them the service. No.
If you can't manage to install Ubuntu, you deserve to run Windows.
Seriously, it's so easy these days.
Yeah, Those -1 trolls coming my way, I guess. But someone had to say it.
Because on Slashdot, more people actually read up and check the facts, rather than taking what they are told, and by the media, no less, as the truth on an issue. Global warming is happening. We are running out of fossil fuels. We should be switching to alternate power sources. Is human activity the cause of Global Warming? No. The fact of the matter is that as temperature increases, CO2 increases - not the other way around. The biggest store of CO2 is in the oceans, dissolved in the water. When the climate gets hotter, the oceans get hotter, water evaporates, and CO2 is released into the atmosphere. The media has the correlation the wrong way round.
I'd say COD4 is almost as artistic, if not just as artistic, as Bioshock. Some of the cut-scenes/events are extremely powerful, especially the last scene and 'Aftermath'.
I remember seeing a British Army advert where they control a UAV using a 360 controller, is this advertising, truthfully what they use, or trying to make it appeal to gamers? Either way, I was pretty disgusted. My 360 crashes so much, I really don't want to see the Army using them for anything.
Anyone seen the anime Planetes? It's all about people working collecting debris in the future, because there is so much up there, that it is a risk to the (now common and commercial) space flights.
Interesting that this is becoming a topic of interest as of late.
God, Clarkson is a Genius, yes, he may act like an idiot sometimes (case in point) but for humerous value, it's incredible, and he is a guy you can relate to - everything he says, if you agree with it or not, you can see where he is coming from, and laugh at the way he presents it. Much like Zero Punctuation or for the more adventurous, Encyclopedia Dramatica. Recently there was a petition signed by many on the UK Government's website for Clarkson to become prime minister - everyone likes the guy. He always does the thing deep down we all want to do - the stupid thing that seems the most fun(ny).
Uh, that is rubbish. Deluge uploads fine. Probably just a peer that used some leeching only client that sent a different program's name so it didn't get banned.
I'm going to go ahead and feed to troll here. Mainly because I am bored.
I said that I have used Vista enough to talk about it, and also, I never said Vista was bad, I just said it hadn't learned much from OSS. You, sir, are clearly an idiot.
There are things wrong with Vista. Compared to my Linux distros it is slow and bloated, I have to pay for it and software for it, there is no package manager, there is no Compiz Fusion, It is less secure, etc...
I am by no means a fanboy. A fanboy is someone who makes an argument without backing it up, (generally exaggerating and using bad English), and bashing everything else. Also, you can not spell fanboy.
Please come back when you can make a structured argument and understand basic things.

It's be even easier if Abramovich digs his version of the Channel Tunnel under there.
I wish I had mod points to mod you up, exactly what I was going to say.
But it has already started, the last time I saw this it was going to be opt-in, now it's opt-out, how much further? That's the question.
Was I the only one to see the title and think music?

Only 2 360s? Wow. Doesn't sound like bad luck to me.
Yeah, They are hackers on steroids! There is a big difference!
Yeah, unless you happen to like IMAP like me.
Wow, there are illegal ones? Seriously, since when is BitTorrent illegal?

You must be new here.

Shame my school is so bloody useless and has an IT department so incompetent it is painful.

Indeed. If only we could rely on common sense. Unfortunately, it appears not to exist anymore.
How was that a contribution to the discussion?

The best client out there for Linux users with Gnome (KDE users can look to kTorrent). Been using it for some time.
I think that you can only get done for withholding evidence from the police if they ask you about it, but IANAL.
