By myself, I watch "TV" (Netflix, etc) on a monitor/laptop/tablet, for watching a movie with the family, a decent projector trumps a TV (I do own a 50" TV and don't own a (decent) projector, but I have friends that do and I prefer it).
I got it! I'll make a fortune selling a service that lets people store their keys on my server. Now I just need a witty name for it. Let's see, what would evoke in the mind being safe from a fire... call it a rain service? Nah, computers don't like being wet. Oh! I know! I'll call it a cloud service!
I have been procrastinating my exodus from iGoogle (before they lock me out:( ), I Google'd "iGoogle alternatives" but the few I tried sucked. Netvibes was not one of them, I just spent the past 10 minutes setting it up the way I like it & now (while I think it's silly to ax something people are using), I won't even notice them shutting it down.
Thanks for the recommendation. The only feature I miss (might just not have found it yet) was being able to expand the headlines to read the summary before leaving my homepage.
I've always questioned the usefulness of the expression "a fraction of" except when trying to exaggerate a claim. This is not to say you are doing so, but there is a massive difference between 1/32, 9/10 and 3/2 though they are all valid fractions. I make a fraction of what I made during the Bush administration, fortunately for me the numerator is greater than the denominator in this fraction.
IIRC, there are, what, 6 Xcom games, not one of which has a number. Also, Civ III was (IMHO) the best iteration of the game, should I really still only play the original? I mean, yeah, I played it when it was new (and I loved it!), but it's a 22 year old game. Fallout also comes to mind. Just because a game is a sequel, doesn't mean it sucks.
But yeah, EA sucks & always-online DRM needs to go.
That's the same concept that applies to parking tickets. What do you think public parking would be like if the amount of the ticket for an expired meter was just a quarter? Nobody would pay the meter, they'd park all day and pay a quarter every day they got ticketed. Essentially free parking.
You're right, we can't have that, that would make us have some of the same rights that large corporations have without having to bribe politicians.
Many LDS people start at U of U (or another local college/university), then take off 2 years to serve a mission, then return to finish school - this is a very common practice.
IME (yes, small sample size & all that), even a mediocre teacher that hasn't just checked out can do well teaching very small groups of kids that they can connect with. The main trouble with public school (any many private school) learning is that with large class sizes much time is wasted on discipline, etc. I do not homeschool, but I have (well educated) friends that do & can definitely see their perspective. One thing they do right is they do it as a small cooperative, about a dozen kids in several families where each 'teacher' teaches what they know best. Most if not all of them are college educated. Like I said, I chose public school for my kids, but I can see advantages and disadvantages of both.
I'm probably no more ignorant of Bitcoin than your typical/.'er, so please forgive this slightly OT, likely Googleable question:
If Bitcoins are currently worth more than $1, how does one make a 99c purchase with them? Do they have decimal values? Can I buy $1 worth of Bitcoin (.067 Bitcoin last I checked)?
I've never met the guy, I assure you I am most certainly not on his ass... that said, I am happy with gmail, I don't email anything sensitive ever so I don't care if their robots read my messages.

Computer in pocket = smartphone, typically with dedicated internet.

950 MPG at 65MPH for $134 on a regular basis? Silly me for being impressed by the AeroCivic ...
Stop buying games that end in a number too!

If you did, it was before my time ;)
You realize, now that you have posted you cannot mod, even if you get mod points in time ...
Hogwash, they never shorten the yellows when they install the cameras ... oh, wait.
Think French.

Definitely can't have that.

What did the dinosaurs eat???
The cool ones ate other dinosaurs ...

Sounds to me like he just wants to make sure no major server farms get built in his state.
This is why I only use $2 bills (yes, they are still printed, albeit in small quantities) - drug users don't use them.
Any restaurant or store will let you use gold as currency. You just may not like the exchange rate you are given.
But the Kindle has HD right there in the name, it has to be a better screen!!!11@
Slashdot is so hypocritical sometimes.
I hear ya, man, it's almost as if there was more than one of us.
