My point applies to more than just movies - its a general "marketing thing" that kinda makes it look (at least to me) like they use these kinds of practices just to consume their corporate budget ("Hey boss, we used all the money you gave us, can we have some more?")
Hrmm... interesting point - I kinda wonder if MS could be held criminally responsible for not releasing security patches to everybody (I don't really feel like bringing up the issue if those machines should be legal or not)...
I have an odd feeling (ya its something of a conspiracy theory, ok) that MS doesn't really mind so much if Vista sucks, because if they come through with their next "Vienna" in 09 as they claim they will, people still using XP but want to run the new Vista apps (yet those apps aren't enough to get them to go to Vista) - and if Vienna is massively better than both Vista and XP, there could be a small rush to buy Vienna as people who had used Win98 would maybe upgrade to 2000 or XP...
first off, sorry to be a nazi - but thats a "Deathclaw"
second off, personally I liked the level of control that Fallout 1+2 had that came with the hex-honeycomb grid and turn based combat, but not too much like in tactics...
STALKER doesn't even come close to fallout - ya sure its a post-apocalyptic world with smgs, sniper rifles, and rpgs - but thats not the huge deciding factor in what made Fallout 1+2 great - it was that you could melt the flesh off a person with a plasma rifle or blow out their ribcage in sadistically satisfying ways, and read a discription of it that "the cute little puppy was shot in the head for 50 pts - it's head is lying on the ground in a puddle of mush"
but just think of the ESRB rating its gonna get - I mean it was cool enough (read: comically gory) in plain, isometric 2d - but to have that in full 3d? Jack Thompson sure ain't gonna be happy about this with peoples ribcages getting shot out...
DISCLAIMER: Of course I didn't RTFA - cmon man, this is/. v2.0...
From the summary saying how it would mostly see use in cellphones and the like, I would think it would operate at low enough speeds/voltages to be able to get by with passive cooling...
Yes, lets make this, then charge arseloads of money for a meaningless cert so that it can be just like a Verisign/et al SSL cert - all you need is money and the average joe that only knows to look for the "safety lock/https" - making "http://please_hijack_my_machine.safe" just as reputable as Bank of America.
And you'd have a bitch of a time restricting it to legitimate banks such as only companies such as Bank of America, etc in the manner of how.gov or.mil is restricted, because how do you prove that the small-time bank isn't legitimate? You'd instantly have a load of bankers suing ICANN for what would effectively be state-sponsored anti-competitive business practices - "Oh, you can't cough it up? Sorry, you're no longer as respectable as you were before..."
Actually, the Debian naming conventions are apparently after the "people"/toys from the Pixar movie Toy Story - making it sound even more like its for little kids.
Note: I still haven't actually used pure Debian out of the fact that every time I've gone to their servers, there's *no* transfer speed. Which is kinda annoying because I finally got an iso just yesterday - but if what I hear is correct about how upgrading takes you to the next release, it should all be good (I'm used to Fedora where if you want the new release you're just as well reinstalling the system with the new version.)
I think you forgot though that not only could he have youtube open all day - he could have *2* read it *TWO* (GASP) youtube windows open all day!!! Not to mention all the wasted processor and GPU cycles from the extra overhead of another monitor, along with the extra power it consumes - causing the guys in Maintenance who take care of providing power will have to waste time and energy working those gerbils harder to power the generators...
YAY for Ghost in the Shell! YAY for anime! You too will soon be able to join our prosthetic body overlords by switching out your real body for a comedic little Jameson type
Actually that was what I was trying to say - even if you disabled the majority of the wobbly windows and desktop cube type effects, the themes alone are fantastic. Beryl-project.org (dark themes) (the official project site) provides TONS of themes that resemble Vista's dark theme - except it's even better because you can tweak small parts of it, thus resulting in your own entirely new theme...
No - beryl/compiz require Xorg or Xfree86 and XGL or AIGLX (at least ot my knowledge) and are the window manager for desktop environments such as KDE and GNOME - to my knowledge for example you can use KDE with the GNOME window manager Metacity instead of the default KDE wm KWin, however an X server is required (which AFAIK there hasn't been any X server ported to the Windows platform)...
thats a kind of a moot point, because pretty much nobody's drivers work in Vista...
You mean like IE7's total interface redesign? Heck, even I have trouble navigating it when I have to help somebody else figure something out...

yes, but marketing divisions would rather have "someoddmovie.com" instead of "someoddmovie.someoddstudio.com"
paint extra edges on?
How do you know *WE* aren't the terrorists with our /. effect, eh???

yes, complete with motorized window washer carriage with a rail or track at the top of the building to allow side to side movement

hey, you forgot to check for the chair, which trumps all of those

Even then, IIRC, Mandriva is based on Debian, is it not?
as far as I know, KDE4 will be out around October... wikipedia
