i just read through the first 71 pages (argh, i hate legal talk, that's why i couldn't make it all the way) and it seems that 2600 was hit where it counts. all their arguments were dismissed as invalid. this could turn out to be very interesting.
why does the court insist on saying DeCSS is used for copying DVDs when that is possible without DeCSS? How do you intend to prove that DeCSS is used for positive means?
it's because Rambus simply hasn't delivered. they keep saying it will enhance performance later on down the road when chips are faster, but in the benchmarks, the faster the chip, the better SDRAM is at slaughtering Rambus. wait until DDR. that's honest performance gain hopefully unlicensed by anyone. cheap, fast. just like the athlon. tswhat makes computer shopping so much fun.
yeah, the 1.4GHz will be out, but to Dell and Compaq. Curse me if i ever buy from them...
we've had enough of Intel "releasing" processors to two-three vendors, and we're tired of it.
just got my AMD Athlon 1GHz last night.
tell me when Intel can get me a GHz for less than $2000...
well, napster has posted a Buy-Cott list on their web site of groups who support napster, and they recommend you buy the cds of the bands on the list even though these bands are on RIAA labels. some of them include Sunny Day Real Estate, Radiohead, and the Get-upKids. being as i'm a huge SDRE fan, i was happy to see them on the Buy list. as Napster is blocked from my corporate firewall, i am not sure of the exact link, but i think it's here.
Buy these CDs! especially radiohead's OK Computer/the Bends and Sunny Day Real Estate's The Rising Tide. These are three of best cds ever made. and the bands support Napster.
the fact is, the new t-bird athlons will be locked to those who don't know the secrets. some hardware web sites have guides to changing the multiplier on the chip by connecting different contacts on the ceramic surface with a conducting ink pen. this just means the multiplier lock will be more difficult to overcome. before anyone flames AMD for this, remember that Intel has been locking processors since the p2-350. AMD provided a way to change the multiplier on the classic athlon (pretty ingenious if you ask me) with the goldfinger device, and they'll probably come through again. give them some credit, enough anti-amd sentiment.
Do you think it could be because of fear of the big bad..Intel? Dell still doesn't carry Athlons, i think they are afraid of Intel. When are companies going to pick the best chip for the job instead of trying not to offend the mothership?
the RIAA wants everyone to be constantly monitored to see if they're listening to unauthorized music. sooner or later, we're not even going to be able to borrow a cd from a friend. people-the government won't become Big Brother, but watch out for the RIAA.
Did you notice how the test systems were Dual P3s and the tests were run against Win98 and Linux? the Linux ports of the Quakes are not SMP-optimized, and Win98 can't use the other processor at all. A bit unfair? Definitely!
it is cool that there is no frame loss when switching to windowed mode...
but what if you have a directory full of 3000 files and you want to delete all the.txt files that begin with the letter O? even with display sorting, "rm -f O*.txt" is faster than highlighting them. GUIs don't use wildcards.
now there will be a whole bunch of photo-realistic skinny white males with large glasses and names like DrPOisOnSkULL and dEATHwarrant on my local quake server...
i use debian on my server because of the power of dselect and dpkg, and because the logo looks cool:). but face it, linux almost certainly wouldn't be here today if Netscape hadn't ported. don't lie to yourselves and say that there was an alternative. pine is a great email package, and Java is necessary today. getting rid of them out of the standard Debian distribution is just a nuisance-most people will install at least one of those three anyway, so why make them download it out of a quasi-political stance?
i did not say 14mbps can't touch good old 10baset i said "but only 14mpbs?" and on a different thought said "but as we've seen, electric-plug networks can't touch good old 10baseT/cat5." cat5 was included in that, which includes 10 and 100 baseTX. gosh. rip it apart on semantics, why don't you.
but only 14mbps? this may serve okay for gaming over home-based networks, but as we've seen, electric-plug networks can't touch good old 10baseT/cat5. i know electric plug is neater, but it costs a lot more, is not user-serviceable, and is held back by lack of bandwidth.
you're providing a service to people who in some cases can't get it anywhere else. how do you justify the fact that people are going to hold illegal data in your facility in the name of free speech?

is this going to be as bad as Force Commander? please no. i like star wars too much to hate yet another star wars game.
no, it will be based on a low-calorie alternative to the potato.

hehe :)
good point.
for reference, read Tom's Hardware and his article on the *new* pentium 3 1133. it's hilarious. he's so bitter at intel...

Veal, Lettuce, and Tomato?
or at least they're on the RIAA member list. thought you were indie, didn't you :)

set scanner to SCSI ID #0
boot system while holding down Scan button
you will hear "Ode to Joy" as Beethoven intended it-with the scan motor's whine :)

anyone know if you can still get Slack on 8" floppies? (wink)

oh, i get it, compaq's not putting it on...you have to do it yourself. what a confusing headline.
why do the pictures show it running WinCE or Windows Powered or whatever the heck they call it now?

isn't PS1 a trademark of IBM? i remember seeing the IBM PS1's at Sears and Radio Shack-386s with 52-meg hard disks.
