Plain and simple.
It has nothing to do with the OS. Hell I spent hours trying to get X-wing to work on a crappy 486 box back in the day, and if a game is fun enough, I'd do it again.
Microsoft has marketed an OS to the public that gives them the idea only Windows can give you an easy solution to gaming. Pop a CD in and boom your off running.
All the flavor's of Linux haven't gone to the extreme that Microsoft has in making their OS seem gamer-friendly.
The author IMO has been well trained by the Microsoft Marketing team, and must be applauded for their fine work.
Last i heard the comic book giants were upset that they weren't making enough money going through 3rd party companies to produce content other that comic books. (i.e.: movies, etc)
And even if they do, why SOE? Are there no other competitors out there? And what could Sony bring to the table to convince them to butcher their MMORPG?
I love the Ultima games. Great work. But giving an award like this to someone with a well known inflated ego doesn't help. Lets add some more gas to the fire.;)

Is to play WoW, does that mean Blizzard can replace their servers with PS3's? Might help lag some.
