> So far, all of his 72 contracts are foreign, guaranteed by letters of credit. None in the U.S. yet. What does that say?
I think it probably says that there is something we don't know about that prospective buyers do know about. If no one in the US wants this, then there is a reason for it. At first glance, this seems like a great advancement. Who wouldn't want to turn all their garbage into profit? That seems like a no brainer to me. So if we set up a few thousand of these, then we convert most of our waste into free fuel. Awesome! Its Back To The Future. All we need next are intelligent pants and shoes that shrink to fit and a cool hover board that glides in mid air.
I'm not trying to be doom and gloom here, but I'm just betting that there is more to this story that we don't know about. I hope I am wrong, however, and that this ends up being exactly what it appears to be. If thats the case, then I hope we see more of these in the US.
I REALLY do not see how this video is impressive at all. They play the same note and gyrate around. WOW!! Somebody call John Tesh. And why does it take like 20 people to demonstrate the 'One Note Instrument' on the iphone? Think maybe 5 people would have been enough?
I expected these people to be playing different instruments (like in a real orchestra). So that they work together to play a song. Maybe a couple of group of woodwind iPhones, percussion iPhones, and some brass iPhones. When everyone is playing the same thing, then you might have an orchestra that would draw a 10 people crowd at the mall.
The interviewer is just terrible. How is it that this is the only guy in the internets providing info on this?
Anyway, the linux distro in the vid looks like xandros that comes with the asus eeepc 900. I'm not sure it is is xandros but it looks just like that.
The first thing I'd do is wipe that crap and install something else on there with an 8gb sd card or something.
And once again... the interviewer was just plain horrible.
When I read the angry complaints (especially the dude who has a lawyer ready to sue Slashdot for not deleting old comments) it just makes me think that maybe you should be able to ban someone for just being stupid. I mean, c'mon.
And in my younger and more idle days I have been a troll. I have to admit that I don't see any good in it. Except that its often difficult to determine whether someone is actually trolling or not. Its not always clear.
I don't mean this as an insult, but get over yourself. Keep your job, continue to pay your rent and let someone bigger fight the good fight. By taking a stand you aren't going to accomplish anything at all except to damage your good standing at your job. No good will come of this. You'll end up spending a few weeks watching soap operas and eating countless bags of fritos with nothing to show for it except a boss sized footprint on the back of your pants.
A few years ago I was very active in a game forum and was bullied feverishly by a group of guys. It took a long time for me to realize that the long debates I had with them only made matters worse. At some point right and wrong do not matter at all. There comes a point when the points will all be completely lost and then whats left is just a ridiculous fight where no one wins, but where you will certainly lose.
So speak your mind once and maybe clarify a point and then quit. And if you have the power and the person continues to be a menace, then ban him and have him removed without an explanation or apology. WHY? Because you can. Also the board will be better off without trouble makers like that. If you let people like that stick around and continue to troll and make trouble then your board will die and all the good folks will leave.
That game forum I mentioned is dead. Days go by now and maybe 10 new threads will be added. I remember a time when there were 50 new threads every day. Improper moderation, tolerance, immaturity and stupidity killed it. You must purge the bad and protect the good as much as you can. And make sure you know the difference between the two. Part of that is in making sure your mods are mature and aren't "proud" of being mods.
It was an interesting article and well worth reading. But the fact that this is 3 years old is relevant in my opinion. I'm a little put off by the fact that this wasn't noted in the excerpt for the headline. Submitting this and passing it off as current news for the sake of making a point is bad form. This particular blog isn't new at all and so you know that someone didn't submit this just because they found it for the first time today and thought it was valid. Its a lot more likey that someone wanted to make a public point about open source software and dug this blog up out of the archives in order to do it. It you can find a newer link than this to make your point, then maybe this particular view is outdated and not worth spending very much time on.

So why can't the aborigines take out their poison dart guns and go to work?

I could go on and on and on about this
... implant a chip in their brain that tracks when they have unprotected sex and drink alcohol and do drugs and smoke and and and and ...
