I think that software companies behind the Operating systems being used today should take full responsibility at prevention and removal of spyware/adware/malware.
Your kidding right? (dont' care about your/you're ok?)
Thats like saying car companies should be responsible for everyone that lets their engine seize up because they never changed the oil.
The truth is people should start taking responsibility for their own actions (or lack of), a lot of people don't know that installig that 'cool' gadget that sits in your task bar and reports the local weather 'MAY' be a bad thing, but how is that Microsoft's or Apples responsibilty?
seriously I want to know how you came to your conclusion
This is the elephant in the room that nobody notices (or something to that effect)
While its great in theory, too many choices lead to indecision and apathy. Its a truism I say
this is the best part - "Models indicate the planet is either rocky like the Earth or covered in an ocean."
Models also indicate that the planet either has oxygen or it doesn't, has plantlife or it doesn't, may be an error in calculation or may not.
I mean come on
The Cramps down in the basement at Mother's.
Oh yeah I remember those shows..you are talking about High street at OSU right?
I was mainly into the more 'mainstream' punk/new age at mean mr mustards, but I'd go to Mothers sometimes.. good times

A very (very very very) good tutorial for Ruby is Why's (Poignant) Guide to Ruby
It uses humor and short stories to teach and is very effective.
That episode pissed me off because the idiots didn't follow instructions. I'm not sure how bright Tory is but I think he's better off hammering something than trying to develop experiments.
thats because fucking sarcasm tags arn't real.. damn if you can't type coherently enough to convey and if your audience isn't intelligent enough to understand (sarcasm) then the comment is problably worthless.
Each tyme someone says 'plays SL', or SL is a weird GAME - they are missing the point. SL isnt' a game per se, its an environment. Sure you can code a game within SL as many many people have done, but SL is just a graphical mush/moo.
If you call it an MMORPG you have to drop the 'G'
Unfortunately the graphics are late 90's due to the bandwidth currently required, but if you get used to it you can discover some absolutely freaking AMAZING places. Like Svarda for example
I am so glad to see a modicum of intelligence here about the VT incident. I almost threw my phone at the TV this morning in disgust at the talking heads.
VT did the best they could, they acted appropriately and in a timely manner. What if instead of an email the initial reaction was to broadcast on the supposed campus loudspeaker system and cause a panic (or create concern where there was none had it been a one shooting affair)
Lets say they caused a panic and 12 students were trampled to death in the pandemoniom.. you can bet the media would be lambasting the administration for not handling it properly, not to mention the lawsuits from the parents.
I hope and pray that our society wises up, but it doesn't look like its going to happen
I was 'supposed' to get a Timex Sinclair ZX80 (maybe 81) in 1982 for christmas - its what I asked for after seeing it on that show about hackers..umm can't remember the name, however my step mother got me a Tandy CoCo II (16KB) instead.
That computer was awesome, I wonder if I would be where I am today if I had gotten the Sinclair instead?.. membrane keyboard, limited basic, etc..
Today I have 3 CoCo's due to some unfortunate newbie EBAY bidding:)
omg I apologize for the formatting (lack of), I can't seem to edit it. Just skip down to the bottom for the actual requirement for true information. The 2nd link I provided is good reading too.
It takes some digging, but you can find the terms and conditions for the bulk-access agreements that all registries must adhere to in order to remain accredited.
In turn the registrars have terms that they must follow to remain accredited.
http://www.icann.org/registrars/ra-agreement-17may 01.htm#3
Failure to adhere to these agreements can be harsh (http://www.icann.org/correspondence/touton-letter -to-beckwith-03sep02.htm)
In these agreements it states that:
3.3 Public Access to Data on Registered Names. During the Term of this Agreement:
3.3.1 At its expense, Registrar shall provide an interactive web page and a port 43 Whois service providing free public query-based access to up-to-date (i.e., updated at least daily) data concerning all active Registered Names sponsored by Registrar for each TLD in which it is accredited. The data accessible shall consist of elements that are designated from time to time according to an ICANN adopted specification or policy. Until ICANN otherwise specifies by means of an ICANN adopted specification or policy, this data shall consist of the following elements as contained in Registrar's database:
3.3.1.1 The name of the Registered Name;
3.3.1.2 The names of the primary nameserver and secondary nameserver(s) for the Registered Name;
3.3.1.3 The identity of Registrar (which may be provided through Registrar's website);
3.3.1.4 The original creation date of the registration;
3.3.1.5 The expiration date of the registration;
3.3.1.6 The name and postal address of the Registered Name Holder;
3.3.1.7 The name, postal address, e-mail address, voice telephone number, and (where available) fax number of the technical contact for the Registered Name; and
3.3.1.8 The name, postal address, e-mail address, voice telephone number, and (where available) fax number of the administrative contact for the Registered Name
AND
3.7.8 Registrar shall abide by any specifications or policies established according to Section 4 requiring reasonable and commercially practicable (a) verification, at the time of registration, of contact information associated with a Registered Name sponsored by Registrar or (b) periodic re-verification of such information. Registrar shall, upon notification by any person of an inaccuracy in the contact information associated with a Registered Name sponsored by Registrar, take reasonable steps to investigate that claimed inaccuracy. In the event Registrar learns of inaccurate contact information associated with a Registered Name it sponsors, it shall take reasonable steps to correct that inaccuracy.
AND the biggie
3.7.7.1 The Registered Name Holder shall provide to Registrar accurate and reliable contact details and promptly correct and update them during the term of the Registered Name registration, including: the full name, postal address, e-mail address, voice telephone number, and fax number if available of the Registered Name Holder; name of authorized person for contact purposes in the case of an Registered Name Holder that is an organization, association, or corporation; and the data elements listed in Subsections 3.3.1.2, 3.3.1.7 and 3.3.1.8.
3.7.7.2 A Registered Name Holder's willful provision of inaccurate or unreliable information, its willful failure promptly to update information provided to Registrar, or its failure to respond for over fifteen calendar days to inquiries by Registrar concerning the accuracy of contact details associated with the Registered Name Holder's registration shall constitute a material breach of the Registered Name Holder-registrar contract and be a basis for cancellation of the Registered Name registration.

however since we don't have the technology to even come close to the speed of light it would be more like 200 years.

Apparantly you didn't know that 'snow crash' was the inspiration for SL? It is the metaverse as far as our current technology can work
