The students of today are the world leaders of tomorrow. In American news I've only seen fate of students come up in Congress when they want to throw students in jail for listening to American culture without giving more money to already too powerful corporations.
Imagine the effect if the RIAA blackmailed all the Engineering students, taking their money, and forcing them to drop out and do blue collar jobs. The flow on effects would be catastrophic, yet I bet that is partially happening right now with the blessing of the government just so the RIAA can hang onto their old business model.
You missed another Americanisation. It's Defence Science and Technology Organisation. Check their website http://www.dsto.defence.gov.au/. Not everyone uses Americanised spelling.

Fuck Microsoft. Fuck them and their can't-beat-em-then-buy-em business model. Fuck their complete lack of innovation, and fuck the douchebags who sell out to them.
So what you are really trying to say is that you thought the demo was cool. Hey man don't hold back the love.
I've emigrated away from where I was born. I send off photos to my relatives to stick on the wall, fridge, in an album whatever.
I had used two printers a Canon i850, or an Epson R800 depending on if I was at home or my girlfriends home. They are meant to be equivalent spec. After a year I went back and visited my sister. She had put all my photos on her fridge. The old ones printed on the Canon had almost completely disappeared. The old R800 ones were as good as new.
Just lasting 10 years is nice, that Canon ink just didn't cut it. I bet a lot of other inks also don't last much.
So what do you reckon 30? 40 billion $$$? Afterall doctors get sued for millions for making an honest 5 second mistake. This has been a 2 year campaign of deliberate persecution of an innocent minor and her disabled mother.
You're probably going to get a lot of skeptics telling you that you are wrong. Some people are lucky in that their bodies are bullet proof to a lot of chemicals. I've had problems with Aspartame, but the main killer for me is Azo Dyes. Something that seems to affect a few people in my family although I suffer the worst. When I was younger I'd be quite happy and then I would eat something and be really sick for hours or days. My parents were going nuts for years trying to work out what I was allergic to. I've got a write up on my blog about Azo Dyes here http://johnstewien.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!E6885D B5CEBABBC8!410.entry
Just a thought, but would it be legal to upload music files that are in the public domain? If so then that means these services can only be used with free music. So if these services get popular, then so does non commercial music. Sounds like a good thing.
Why is this modded funny? This is damn straight advice. 5 years ago I had a short term contract to write some QT stuff on Linux. I think it was redhat. I hadn't used Linux before but I read the manual that was in a PDF file and away I went. Most of the stuff you need to know to get around Linux is in the manual. It's not that hard. Like what did people do when the first got their hands on a C64 or Amstrad 6128 or an Amiga 500? They read the manual. How did people learn to use Lotus 123? They read the manual. What is it these days that people can't read instructions? Goddam if everytime I needed to learn something on my job I had to go to a course I would forever be in training. What do I do most of the time? I RTFM. Why is RTFM such a common expression? Because it's good advice. Of course adding a bloody link would help.
With all the chinese computers I see here I'm yet to see one running Symantec stuff. I do see Trend Micro 2003 stuff on them though. This problem may not be as big as you think. Afterall to get updates don't you have to pay a subscription fee?
What I want to know is what the hell are Homeland Security doing trying to protect Nuclear Power plants when there are still 11 yr old girls living in housing projects downloading Britney Spears music off the net FOR FREE!! They should obviously be focussing on funnelling money into the pockets of the people with whom Britney has a contract with.
So if you buy OpenOffice from Sun then you don't have a problem. Software Patents are a real bastard in the commercial software world. The FOSS community has had it pretty easy. Maybe this will bring about more reform to the patent system by creating such a wave.
Microsoft and all the big Linux companies will probably strike up deals before anything happens, and then when MS attacks it will drive people to have to use supported Linux. IBM will gain customers and it might even save their flagging Service Division. So why would IBM attack MS. Big corporations have share holders and directors that get bonuses for performace. They are money driven entities that don't have an emotional attachment to FOSS like you do. If MS was stupid enough to start suing IBM customers then we might see some action. SCO was stupid enough to attack IBM directly. MS is spending its time formulating a proper war plan.
It's a natural progression from over regulating the roads.
A) You write some guidlines to help people drive on the road
B) You then decide that the guidlines are absolute and turn them into law
C) You then reinforce the law hard
D) You then tighten up the laws
E) You increase reinforcement until you wear everyone down until they are just part of a big metal snake
F) Driving becomes so passive that people feel they can do other things
In many parts of Asia it seems to be at the guidline stage although it's actually between B and C I think. Driving round here there's no way I could take my eyes off the road for a second - there's just too stuff happening all over the road. I rarely see any accidents though, and they are just a scooter being clipped slightly or something else light, whereas on Western roads I've seen some big crashes happen right in front of me - because someone wasn't looking and drove full pelt into someone else.
Hence you can't have 2 filenames differing only in capitalization??
Just tested trying to create Test.bat and test.bat in the same directory in Windows XP using the "Explorer" shell, and yes I couldn't create the second file - said the name already existed.
We have a login script that calls another script that is the one that gets modified. To use different script you just change the name of the called script to the one you want. If the script gets changed then the person who changed it changes the name and we can tell how old it is by the date stamp on the file. So far we have these (oldest to newest):
If circumvent means the same as "not use" then they could have a winable case. Let me just check the Websters Dictionary here....."to make a circuit around". Hmm not sure. Ok lets check the free online dictionary.."To Avoid".
Ok, so the defendants avoided using the copyright protection. At a push you could say that's the same as circumvent. There really should be some specified limits put on that stupid DMCA thing. The way it stands it's almost a piece of evidence to corruption in the system.
Why stop at apes. What if we introduced the gene into lots of different species? Like parrots which can already talk? Or cats and dogs, or politicians?
I think you will find that there are factories in China making pirate DVDs that get shipped in bulk to just about every other country in the world. There are factories in Hong Kong that start printing the retail DVDs to stock up for the retail release, of course this printing is done while the movie is still in theatres, but often theses Hong Kong factories are also the source of the early DVD rips where rogue employees get a copy out of the factory somehow.
Counterfeiting is also big in China. There they even managed to set up a whole fake NEC organisation that was buying from the same suppliers that the real NEC did, see http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/04/27/business/ne c.php. They even print foreign food labels and put in on local produce. It's amazing stuff. There was even a case where they set up a car factory right next to a GM factory and were churning out the same car. Check this out http://www.automotoportal.com/article/chinese-rip- offs-of-western-automakers Makes a truck of burnt DVDs look like childs play.

Use a testing framework like Parasoft's CPP stuff http://www.parasoft.com/jsp/products/home.jsp?prod uct=CppTest

Hey I just found a useful link here http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux now go RTFMs....n00bs! :-P

Yeah you have to add this value to the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Con"obcaseinsensitive"=dword:00000000
Which is what you need to do if you are running Services For Unix

The command line and shell are case insensitive, but the names are still saved with the case that you typed in.

Seriously though, subversion is good because it lets you do atomic checkins.
Elbonia is a whole country, not local tribal information, but I guess you were making a point.
Here's all you need to know to get up to speed on Estonia https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos /en.html
Now where can I bone up on the info you mentioned?
If circumvent means the same as "not use" then they could have a winable case. Let me just check the Websters Dictionary here....."to make a circuit around". Hmm not sure. Ok lets check the free online dictionary.."To Avoid".

And what about Ghost In The Shell 2:Innocence. That was a real WTF for me.
Why stop at apes. What if we introduced the gene into lots of different species? Like parrots which can already talk? Or cats and dogs, or politicians?
That's the funniest thing I've read all day. Pity the humor was lost on the moderators.
Good thought. There's a few directions you can go with this.
What about an American Journalist being extradited to China for criticising the government there.
What about being extradicted to a non-secular country for saying something against their religion.
But we are talking IP. What about an Indian being extradited to Sweden for copying IKEA furniture. Even though there are no IKEA stores in India. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2 006/02/12/MNG41H6PEF1.DTL.
Someones crossed a line here, but then many lines have been crossed in this war of IP holders vs the people.
