  1. Re:Jobs sold 300 Million USD of Apple stock on The Forgotten Apple CEO · · Score: 1
We should also note that he is the
    • CEO
      • of Apple. He doesn't hold a job at Disney, just the potential deal with Pixar and a bunch of stock. He's got the job, so for tax purposes, the Apple stock is probably the least of the three he needs right now.

(...and the fact that it could be locked down due to "escrow")
  2. Re:User friendly? on Joomla's Project Director Talks 1.1 · · Score: 1

Exactly! I'm speaking from personal experience. I thought I'd design a "front door" to my website using Joomla where my blog is the "family room" and my forum the "living room" (or whatever analogy works).

Let me just say this: Joomla or any CMS requires loads of content to make it worth your while. If you have a blog, and it's not overflowing with info and links, there is probably no reason for a CMS. If you aren't trying to create a community around your products, services or expertise, a CMS isn't for you. (CMS requires content....Surprise!)

(Personal note: I removed Joomla from my site until I can justify my time with it. If it doesn't make my life easier, I'm not interested in the technology.)

"I currently work with two contractors and they cost around 2.5 times more than me"

Did you include their benefits, or lack of, in that equation? I work in HR and the first consideration for hiring of temps is what the project is. Generally they are hired for project or to cover an extended employee absense under FMLA or Military Service.

As I read everyone's comments, I can't help but feel that someone isn't selecting contractors like they should AND that the work environment in general is a bit hostile at Microsoft. (of course a lot of these comments I'm reading are from /. folks who are "hostile" against MS, so everything with a grain of salt)

  4. Cedric Maloux CEO-Extraordinaire on Firefox Gets File Sharing Extension · · Score: 2, Informative

Tried doing a "Whois" of the website. Got nothin, though it is registered. Googled the CEO, Cedric Maloux. Found some interesting things about him and his past web activities, but nothing that gives insight to this new "allpeer" extension for Firefox. I'm just not sure how he plans to make money off of this because extensions are "usually" free. *cough*advertising*cough*
