Yes, before I brought this question to Slashdot, I did my homework first. I've scoured logs, check RBLs, used wireshark, etc. It's definitely not a misconfiguration on my end or an issue with complaints resulting from spam. The traffic coming from my server is so ridiculously small, that I was shocked to begin getting messages like these from those email providers.
The only conclusion that I can draw is that these major providers all use the same dynamic, or what they interpret as dynamic anyhow, IP lists and block based on them. I can understand that... the part that I have an issue with is that I have no recourse to have my IP reevaluated.
I have verified. I am not on any RBLs as I mentioned in my original question. As for whether or not my IP range is residential, I was told when I signed up that it was not. However, I have no way that I know of to verify that.
Yes, it requires authentication. It is definitely not an open relay or being used for spam, even by a legitimate user who may have had their password hacked or something.
Regarding the person from yahoo rejecting my email - I can confirm that's not the case. I set up a yahoo account for my self, brand new, and can't email it.
Regarding the hotmail one - I checked the logs. The average is about 3 emails a week to hotmail.
So, in other words, both of these messages are crap and not accurate.
Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. To answer your questions:
1) Yes, I have a domain. The reverse DNS is correct and I have SPF records for the domain. Also, I'm not running an open relay and my mail server and IP address are not on any RBLs.
2) Each mail service I listed above provides different results. First, Google doesn't send me an email back notifying of an issue. They simply dump the email into the spam folder of whomever I email. Yahoo spits out several messages:
Deferred: 421 4.7.1 [TS03] All messages from XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX will be permanently deferred; Retrying will NOT succeed. See http://postmaster.yahoo.com/42...
Deferred: 421 4.7.0 [TS01] Messages from XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX temporarily deferred due to user complaints - 4.16.55.1; see http://postmaster.yahoo.com/42...
Hotmail spits back this message:
Deferred: 421 RP-001 (BAY004-MC5F24) Unfortunately, some messages from XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX weren't sent. Please try again. We have limits for how many messages can be sent per hour and per day. You can also refer to http://mail.live.com/mail/trou....
You are absolutely correct. It is worse than locking. The Sprint and Verizon iPhone 4 and 4s are identical hardware-wise. But both companies colluded together to keep you from registering phones they didn't sell.
You're wrong. Please research the kernel exploits that were found previous to the latest one that allow installation of new bootloaders, etc using jtag programming and reading methods.
Also, are you aware that if your dvd drive dies and your console is out of warranty, that you can purchase a new DVD drive for about $25 on ebay and install it yourself by "spoofing" your old drive? Yet, this violates M$ policies as they want you to pay them $100 to fix it for you.
Piracy is hardly the only reason people hack their 360s. It is one reason, but certainly not the only reason.
I have a Cisco 678 DSL router and a Cisco PIX 501 sitting behind that. I haven't rebooted either of those in over a year, probably lots longer than that. I have them on a backup battery, so even if the power goes out, they stay up long enough. I seriously can't remember the last time I ever needed to reboot them. My linksys WRT54G though freaks out from time to time for my wireless, that bothers me. However, even that goes atleast 6 months without issue at one time.
You need to try Super Mario Galaxy and Super Paper Mario. Both those games don't use the Wiimote is a bad way like a lot of other crappy wii ports at this point, such as Transformers the Movie. I consider that game unplayable on the Wii. I've played it on the PS2, 360, and the Wii - and the Wii version is horrendous.
Back to the Mario franchise - they came out swinging with these games. They are amazing. Also, Mario Strikers Charged. The game play is a blast on all of these and the graphics are great for the Wii. I can't put Super Mario Galaxy down right now. My son loves playing it with me in 2 player mode and it's a great kids game - no sex and no violence. I know that's a huge turn off to most of the slashdot crowd - but if you have little kids like I do, it's a very welcome change for a modern video game. Super Paper Mario is a classic with it's instant flip to 3D mode game play - and Super Mario Galaxy is awesome because of it's "gravity" - if you don't know what I'm talking about, watch an online video of it. That game is a blast.
Wow, that's harsh - had it been me, I probably would have let the kids have it. I say this because as a younger kid, I remember how badly I wanted games like Double Dragon, Super Marios Bros 2, etc when they were first released. Good times - it would have sucked to have somebody get a copy and I didn't because I was short:(
No, no, no - you're misunderstanding what I'm saying entirely. Don't ever use the discs that come with the computer. Get your own copy of an OEM disc, whether borrowed or purchased like here:
I have one copy of each and they are most widely used discs as a person who fixes computers for people for a living. The sticker on any OEM computer will work with the appropriate disc, and that's all you need.
I do this all the freaking time - just get an OEM copy of XP Home or Pro, and then reinstall with the key on the sticker on the side of machine. I do it once a week probably for people, it works every time. It doesn't matter if it's a Dell, HP, or whatever. It WILL work if you do it right with the right version of windows. As far as activation goes, sometimes you have to call in and get the stupid rep in India or whatever to read back a very long number to reactivate the machine, but it will install and you can reactivate it. You should NEVER have to pay for another copy of windows if your hard drive crashes, period.
Exactly - the damn thing was too expensive in the first place. They are only now coming back to reality. Not completely, but they are getting there. $100 off is a good start. Get the thing to $350 and I'd start to think about it. $600 was just ridiculous.
Thank you - I'm tired of all the RedHat hating because RPM sucks by itself. YUM has been a great tool for RPM based systems for about, oh, I'd say 4 years now if I remember correctly. I've been using Fedora and CentOS without issue for about 3 years as a result. I'm very happy. I've also tried Ubuntu, but I just don't know where all the config settings are yet like I do in a RedHat based system, but I don't think Ubuntu sucks at all - in fact, I love all this linux competition - it makes the distros step their game up and get better.
Yes, you can. The latest X2 chips based on 65 nm don't even get the heatsink warm that's sitting on them. They are fantastic. Granted, it was about 6 months after Intel did such a thing...
You have no clue buddy - 2 people I know had them fail after the 3 month period was up, which was the INITIAL warranty period. Rather than pay Microsoft another fucking $140 they tried to fix them or have somebody else help fix them. Warrany sticker gone - so now Micrsoft won't touch them. Nice of Microsoft to announce a warranty extension many, many months after most people's failed. You can talk all you want until you've been in that position.
I still can't get one:( I'm not paying more than retail for one, so once I can walk into Walmart and buy one, I won't be able to tell you how great it is or not. I currently have a 360 that still works... but who knows long that will last. Everybody else I know with a 360 has had it die and was either fortunate enough to still be under warranty, or just ended up getting screwed. I'm selling mine and going for a wii since the games are more kid friendly since I have 2 young boys. Also, I may end up getting another 360 or ps3 after the hardware has been through a revision or two since that should keep the 360 cooler and less prone to melting the solder right off the board or warping the board like it does now.
Nevermind my question, I see your part about the 6600GT - I have no idea why you don't see what I do with iTunes. iTunes is the buggiest app by far on Vista for me, both systems.
Exactly. I would love to know what centralized IP blacklist that those 3 providers use.

Yep, I've used that site and checked it against that list. 0 results found on the blacklist check.
Wow, I did not know this. This could solve all my issues. Thanks for the information, I'll look this up right away.

And say what exactly? They are not the problem. It's the other email providers blocking me simply because I'm on a Comcast IP.
Great. So when is the next jailbreak for 6.1.4 coming out?
RedHat should see a nice increase in business because of this.
