The buttons on the fret board have gone back to the rounded shape first used on the PS2 Guitar Hero controller. They still have the same color layout, but now have a mostly black face to make the controller look less like a toy and more like a real axe
It looks like the old wired guitar will work with the new game. Phew! I had heard rumors that the button scheme would be different and I would therefore need 2 sets of toy guitars. The profit margin on selling more copies of the game is so much larger that selling more wireless controllers, that they wouldn't want to discourage people from buying GHIII.
Sorry to disappoint, but games with peripherals rarely ever get released for more than one system. That would involve manufacturing a second version of the peripheral, which is very expensive and would probably confuse consumers.
I suppose the DDR pads are an exception to this rule. Still I have a hard time believing that nobody at M$ has taken note of how popular Guitar Hero and wants to get a taste. Maybe the chances are better of seeing a Guitar Hero clone for the XBox.
Still no news re: this game being available of the XBox? My girlfriend (who is not into games at all) and I played this game at a friend's house and she really got a kick out of it. Guitar Hero is just what I need to lure her over to the dark side.
I'm not planning on buying a PS2 just to get this game though. I hope they plan on porting this game over so they can milk the other half for some scrilla.
It looks to me that by the fact that M$ is planning on releasing an external HD-DVD, that means they won't be caught with their pants around their ankles when Blu-Ray wins the format battle. All they would have to do is release an external Blu-Ray drive.
I think that is why they didn't try to squeeze the drive into the package of the next version (XBOX 361?).

Or did I misunderstand something?
