It doesnt REQUIRE a GUI for install;-)... but yeah... Oracle is a pain to install/manage/troubleshoot... Even the silent installation procedure is plain broken on some platforms.... argh... Im afraid they might force graphical installation of the system upon us and change kickstart to their silly format too;-)
The DevKit today and for $600... that would probably be a good value. The real thing next year when my soundcard is more powerfull than the whole box - not so much. I never saw anyone accused of being a PC fanboy around here - so far.
Well it will be neat to have a commercial real-time linux available - a lot of devices have some crappy hacked-up OS inside them. Hopefully that will change now.
If they lock some bonus content out for players that will lack the RFID reader - they will definitely sell new players(they dont cost a lot more than a few CDs/DVDs anyways)
I actually think that Darwinia did a great job at showing that algorythmization in a RTS game is possible and a lot of fun if you learn to think in a new way. Traditionally you have to concentrate on micromanagement all the time. While in Darwinia you only have to do things once.
