Erm... Product placements? QVC? Lobbyists? Analysts? It's all the same thing. I don't like it either, but that's the way business works in large parts of the world.
So they're only jeopardizing the health of a couple thousand young women every year. Not much compared to what other corporations and organizations have in their closets.

If neither TV nor papers are legally obliged to report only true stories, why should bloggers? Why would anybody *believe* something they read on the Internets?

OK, we might be missing a standard for the laptop-style LCD screens. I know there's LVDS, but AFAIK all the manufactureres have proprietary connectors (but correct me if I'm wrong). The thing I don't get is why we're still using a dumb RGB+sync style interface in an age where many displays have a screen memory and A/D convert the signal back. Why can't there be a simple digital serial interface, e.g. USB2 based, to the display that carries digital data blocks saying "dump the following RGB data into an AxB block at (X,Y)"? That should be plenty good enough for all standard apps; it might be tight for gaming and full screen video (until you add DCT/wavelet decompression.)
By pressing this key combination you can guarantee that the logon box that pops up is from the OS and not from some random crapware. VNC captures it and sends it to the remote machine, so it is no longer special.
> I could see the Utah state legislature mandating that ALL ISP's who do business there block the entire.xxx TLD from its citizenry.
Now what I'm wondering is how Utah is going to force all pr0n sites to change their domain name (and give up their old DNS name.) Especially the many sites outside the US. And let alone the many sites that have tame and XXX sections, and much in between. Like blogs, pic sites etc.
Just making pr0n sites register a.xxx DNS name is going to change nothing at all. Making pr0n content (whatever that may be) in non-xxx domains illegal, that's what it's all about.
I don't know about everyone else, but the college I went to only had a few outside IP's. So, at any given time there were 100's of kids sharing outside ip's. How would RIAA expect a school to be able to track down which of those hundred had supposedly shared or downloaded illegal content? Even if you're behind a NATing firewall, P2P software sends "I'm at IP a.b.c.d" during initialization so servers or other clients can try to reach it, e.g. if ports are opened on the firewall.
On the other hand (and as TFA points out), the key word is empathy. Without empathy, social structures cannot exist. If everyone and everyone is solely self-interested, groups of cooperating individuals could never thrive as they would be destroyed internally by conflicting self-interest. Crap. Do you say the hyenas or wolves in a pack feel empathy towards each others? Ants? Bacteria in a colony? Evolutionary biologists have proved (mathematically) how cooperation evolves from self interest - decades ago.
>"don't be an asshole to other people"... if they're at a similar or higher level in the pecking order. If they're quite a bit below you, it doesn't matter all that much. Who gives a damn about those suckers in Iraq?

I'm sure I forgot a couple million.
As they say, God is great, it's just his ground staff that sucks.
"Morality" is evolved behavior - same thing as in other primates.
Like... If you're the same species as me, but slightly different (different color, different beliefs) then you're from a different tribe so you're my enemy (competition) and I'll have to kill you. If you're of the same tribe/color/nation/belief as I am, I'll be kind to you because you're genetically close to me.
Now some people (a minority unfortunately) transcend that and actually *think* about it. Ever heard of a guy named John Lennon?
I didn't know they already have ESP is IIS. I was trying to find out what they have to offer for people who like to compile their own kernel. Guess I got my answer without even trying.

so they obviously don't have any criminals or terrorists to chase.
Now there's a good way to save some tax money.
A little offtopic (no Linux, only Mac+PC), but check out this one.
Lots of hilarious Mac ad spoofs there.

I thought Emule and Bittorrent via WiMax for my car stereo was here.
But does it run Linux? That has to be considered first!
