    Actually, where I live (Phoenix area) it is not uncommon to find only one fixed reference station (cell tower) connected to my phone.

    T-Mobile begs me to turn on WiFi scanning to permit improved accuracy. WiFi is a nuisance on my phone, as I'm around at least 3 networks daily that all ask me to log on, and if I don't I miss email, texts, and updates. A nasty little feature of how Android handles secured WiFi.

    People who say they intend to make you obey their rules, and will kill you if you do not. Maybe even if you do, and don't actually believe. Mayby even kill you without asking if you will obey, just because of where you live.

    That's just one example.

    Where I work, a Fortune 100 company, the women compete very effectively on the basis of height. Noticeably so. And while the C-level is fairly well dominated by men, from there down it is 50-50.

    It's a big world. Lots of people. If you have any money in your possession, you're rich compared to the rest of the world. If you will sleep indoors tonight, you are very well off indeed. If you already have food for your first meal tomorrow, you are even better off.

    And remember, lots of those miserable have-nots think they are ok.

    they actually work of of appointments, even if you made it 15 minutes ago. and if you show up, the appointment you get there and then will not be as soon as you were hoping.

    Yes, I need a new doctor.

    As opposed to:

    1. Sniffles
    2. Folllowed by Sore Throat
    3. Hacking cough, more sniffles, Full on post-nasal drip. This is the conversion from step throat to a sinus infection.
    4. Gradual decline into pneumonia.
    5. Finally resolving into a persistent asthma attack.
    6. Now I can go to the doctor and refresh my asthma med.

    At least, that;s how it works for me. Trading 2 weeks of misery and risking actual hospitalization to avoid the initial office visit to treat the strep.

    But you're right, it is wasteful to go in too early, and I've only been hospitalized once, and that wasn't really necessary, I just didn't have anyone available to watch me lest I get seriously ill and die in bed.

    Lollipop certainly works better with more RAM. It looks like several recent phones with 'only' 1GB RAM will not get it.

    Plainly older phones with less than 1GB RAM will also not be upgraded. The OS has grown enough that it's not a satisfying experience for users to shoehorn the latest and greatest onto their machines, despite being so well endowed just 2 years ago.

    Sort of obvious, isn't this?

    Um, that's not even accurate. Our medical care is second to none in quality and capability.

    You're complaining about the payment process. It's useful to go back and remember exactly what the problem is we are trying to solve, or we get solutions that don't fix anything.

    In the U.S., the single payer would not be great. It would be just as wasteful and inadequate as all the other programs that single payer runs now.

    And the care providers will get the same treatment - arbitrary fee reductions, slow payment, random denials, paperwork.

    Let's see how this works. It COULD work well, if competence was a desirable trait for our single payer, but it hasn't been for a while now, and I see no signs of that changing.

But the people who gather together and try to talk to him prefer to do it indoors, with the lights on, heat or A/C as appropriate, and sometimes they even pay people to lead these sessions, so they don't have to work at McDonald's to maintain their lives and be somewhat distracted. All that takes money.
    It's really very simple. Just think it through.

    Well, I got my introduction to electronics in the service. The RCA CDP1802 was the CPU in the equipment I learned to service. Yeah, it was actually used in something that sold for money. I felt kinda disappointed in what was available to civilians for a bit after separation.

    I was fortunate to have gotten a lot of digital electronics back then. Playing with 74xx logic kept me off the streets for a few years.

    Who remembers figuring out Procomm Plus for the first time? Usenet? Trumpet Winsock?
