Obviously you haven't seen the difference between 35mm and 4x5, ccd has a loooooong way to go, I can make undeniably stunning 40"x50" prints (in my lab). my formats 4x5 & 8x10 will be around for many years, and without much trouble I can make the film if I want, just like they did 100 years ago. Don't mean to sound sarcastic because ccd's are great for many things, just not art.

  4. Re:All of this comes from Spam on Phishers Get Phoney · · Score: 0

I've personally tracerouted and Whois'ed (arin) the phishers on a few occasions, 1 out of 10 actually come from the US, of course the telephone calls and emails I send to their service providers *always* results in a blame-game scenario. Either they "only lease IP's" (so what, do your job and trace them from your end, call the proper auth.) or I get the "we're not responsible for content." crap from low-rung admins that don't care. Even tried over the phone saying "revoke their access or face my wrath." threats, that sometimes gets an "oh, ill look into it" but frankly the hosts just don't care, they let phishers set-up 10mb web accounts with half of chase, or half of paypal mirrored and don't even check them for content; as long as they pay their $5.95/mo to rip people's passwords and account #'s they turn a blind eye.
On a similar thread (a few months ago) someone had posted the idea of making banks and financiers fully responsible for this, I do honestly think this IS the only way to solve the phishing problem, I really cant blame the sysadmins, I don't know who else they could call that would actually enforce law on this (besides removing their sites...). Just seems to be a severe lack of responsibility starting at the hosts leading all the way up to the feds...

can't wait till I get one traced from a host in my locality, I'll personally cut their mains.

  5. X10 and the market on Is Insteon Better than X10 for Home Automation? · · Score: 0

I used to use X10 in my studio for light control, I'll tell you what, It works quite well, never had a problem with it. I controlled 7 different "zones" with one controller which *was* a nightmare to set-up, the $19 outlets, $45 controller (wasn't even wireless). I do like the technology, if I had a new construction house built, I'd get x10 in it; it's been around for years and years people still don't know much or anything about it, maybe if places like "rad-shack" and "pricey-depot" would push it more (as in educating people, not hard selling) they could get this into homes and everyone could use it (even your mom, just don't let her wire it).

what ever happened to make-up, and squibs, and for sake of it: minatures.
even though cgi looks great nowadays, keep it in the videogames, that's what its for. Seems like big-budget hollywood cuts too many corners and listens to polls and market strategits too much, I remember when pg-13 was invented (for Gremlins) and when "R" movies were scary.
