If we have serious pressure from terrorists seeking to do real harm will that mean that more security oriented programmers and IT managers will be caused to evolve? Normally our system is money driven. Is there a clear path between security oriented skills paying rewards as high as a successful game developer might earn?
Perhaps Iran thinks this is like the movie The Mouse That Roared. The plot was that a tiny nation declared war on the US in order to get rehabilitation funds after the tiny war ended.

The traffic cams probably don't catch very many people when this occurs as it is bumper to bumper and chances are it is rare that the camera has a view of the license plate.

I know my church had the youth group attend a meeting with two women who were recovered alcoholics and they gave revealing testimony about the many things that went on because of their addictions. I am certain that young people that attended that function would go a long way to avoid becoming alcoholic. They also get into teaching about stds and show how quickly and easily they spread. Since HIV and Herpes have become common that is even more relevant today. The effects of gambling are also studied in church groups. But beyond that there is also a bit of learning about temptation, greed, lust and other problems that drag people into the pit.

Instead of ideas such as making people smaller why not simply confront the fact that we need to severely restrict births. A lower population eats less meat, needs less roads and cars and allows general preservation of the environment as well as having natural land for wild life.

This is triple true when other kids in the school sling dope and make a lot more than the kids college educated mom and dad combined. We need to correct society itself to help our kids.
There is a school in Harlem that has dramatic and unusual success in an environment in which children have failed in the past.
The first thing they do is to remove children from the home. The children are allowed to visit family on Sunday afternoons only. These kids are in essence, in training from 6 am until about 10 pm and it is a six day a week regimen. It is not that the kids are deprived of fun or exercise but they function in a very controlled environment. They excel instead of failing. They are graduating from college at almost 100% . They have no drop outs or failures in school. These kids are not playing video games or zoned out in front of a TV or working part time jobs or anything else that would detract from their studies. The kids are also not in a situation where mom or dad or a sibling do not read books. In their new world everyone reads a lot. The point being that they take kids who have been expected to be academic and social nightmares and turn them into A students and the kids like it!
If we did this in all public and private schools out kids could lead the world in education.
Cops are aware that they need to dominate in work situations. Usually they say or do something upon entering a scene that lets people know that what they say will go and is not open for debate. They are aware that many people sort of test the waters with a bit of defiance and if they get away with that defiance become more and more aggressive until a combative situation is at hand. That is why a confrontation with a cop almost sound like a game of Simon Says. You know, put your hands in the air, walk backward, kneel, lay down flat etc.. The cop is demanding a demo of a suspects intentions to comply before getting within striking distance. Any signs of being argumentative or resistant and the taser shocks and pepper spray kick in. Some people are simply over emotional and want to move about and rant and wave their arms etc.. Cops can not sort them out and they are likely to come to some harm while being arrested. Those who show good control and compliance are often innocent or at the very least smart enough to avoid convictions. The stupid and uneducated end up in jails.
How long have people used grinding on jewels? It is true that life without good tools has limits but a bit of sand and a drop or two of water can be used to cut a precise hole in stone even if wood is used to push against the sand slurry. And once one has a nice hole in a rock that hole can be used to grind and axle of hardwood or even of stone.
I suspect that the wheel was not valued as there are so few natural places that a wheel can be used. Sand, mud, loam, fertile soil, rocks or even hills and gullies all do a pretty fair job of making a wheel useless.
I wonder if there are old drawings of cooking where an animal is turned on a spit over a fire. That is a crude form of a wheel and if a primitive person could understand cooking by rotating a pole over a fire then he probably understood the concept could be used on the ground to move things about.

The US has a very disturbed economic situation. One side of capitalism is that it can be a disease in which all good things are cannibalised in the name of profits. Combine that with a recession where money is hard to take in to begin with and you are setting up a tragedy. Then we have the guest worker problem.
Underneath that resides another issue that will really upset a lot of people. Foreign engineers and science graduates have managed to survive in a climate that is hostile to humanity in general and excessively demanding in education. I am far from convinced that the best American scholars can function at the same level as many scholars from Asia, India, china or the smaller nations on the Pacific rim. Also we have some serious scholars that have emerged from the iron curtain nations in Europe as well. And despite the fact that one can stand with one foot in the US and one foot in Canada I have seen output from Canadians that looked superior to anything I have seen in American students.
Then we have another cultural obstacle as well. The most educated are rarely on the boards or upper management positions in American companies. We seem to have a cultural distaste for the well educated and want corporate leaders more like the common folk.
That somewhat explains why a brilliant young engineer in a firm from Burma might be seen as some sort of odd egg head that we can make money on but not as a real human being. It can get pretty ugly at times.
It is often very difficult to tell a true subversive from a normal citizen. If you complain about something because you are unhappy is it because you really want something fixed or because you want to break down the morale of the public? When we have an industry such as internet gambling it is known that some of these games are rigged. Now is that simply to steal money or is it also to try to boost the debt level of Americans and weaken our nation? Or does a portion of the profits clearly flow to promote violence against our nation? With gambling so much money is involved that government needs to be very certain of the motives of the businesses as well as very aware of where all of the cash goes. The same applies to illegal drugs. Surely some drug runners and dealers are in the business and deliberately attempting to destroy the US. There is a danger in assuming that a drug runner simply wants to make money. If you begin to understand that many of these people are eager to see the collapse of America and drugs and dope are only one way of attacking us. Smuggling in alien species of plants and animals can cause billions in losses to us. So when we see such smuggling it would be wise not to just consider the person who sets these species loose not just an animal lover. They may be trying to screw up our nation. Imagine what you can do with killer bees by establishing nests around the nation. Or how about the water hyacynth? One plant can cost a state millions to eradicate. We are at war and it is high time we took other nations seriously.
