Ooh, look at the time, 16:38, time to fire up the Panzerkampfwagen and begin an orderly maneuver to ArmeeGruppe Haupt, to prepare for Operation Wochenende.
Heißt... Ooh, look at the time, 16:38, time to fire up the (tank) combat cars and begin an orderly maneuver to the primary army group, to prepare for Operation Weekend.

Our 'government' does not act as an entity in national matters, but rather as a collection of differently acting parts. And even parts of parts act differently from each other. When people see one agency or one wing of an agency do or say something stupid they label it "f*cking gov't again". I see it as "f*cking moron(s) again". The government is as much good as bad. Do you think they put drunk drivers in jail because they're evil and like the company?
ratio 1:1500. 1 firm like yours for every 1500 already screwed MS customers. And many of those firms will not get screwed by this, they are smart/flexible enough to not be tied to one product. If they are, they will eventually go out of business anyway. You are only screwed if you wish to know only one thing- windows. Which, btw, is a very short sighted act. If you get screwed by M getting broken up it's your own fault for not being flexible.
I know that this will probably get moderated down, but it's the truth. People, don't be a ZD brand computer expert... you'll get screwed by it.
What I would like to see is Billy's stock be made non-voting. After a (the) breakup, the other major stock holders will not stay the same for all the parts for long. (think baby bells, same thing) Thus Hawkins' idea is probable.
This is unlikely for one reason, existing customers view windows as the worst think since uncut bread because of all the headaches it creates, and therefore will flock like mad pigs to any viable alternative that will still run M' Words. Thus, there's a killing to be made on a windows clone.
The tech is here, but when was the last time you saw a set of VR goggels for $200 ? It's the typical tech. development circle, companies won't make it affordable/practical until there's demand. There won't be demand until the products are affordable/practical. It takes one product to break this cycle, but no one wants to devote the resources (LOTS of $$) to develop that first inexpensive product on their own.
When God created the world, with adam and eve, the world was without sin. There was nothing between God and man, no need for heaven, no need for hell, man could live on earth with God for ever. God allowed the devil to exist for one simple reason: so that we would have a reason to follow God. Think about it... if man were together with God, and could do nothing wrong to seperate himself from God (remember, sin did not exist at this time) he could ignore Him. God wants for us to stay with him, the devil and hell are there to give us an alternative...
People, this is getting rediculous. Please, call and write your congressmen and demand that the patent system be reformed. Any lawyers on slashdot? Draft a bill and send it to congress! My God, this system is stuck in the late 1800s! Hell, even copyright law was reformed in the 70s... is about time patents be changed.
Toward the end of the third world war, Hitler had become so mentaly ill and convinced of his own lies that he actually planed battle strategies using units that had been destroyed months earlier. He believed that everyone was lying when they said that the units were no longer.
My point? Many at M believe their own lies so much, and are so convinced of their superiority that they dismiss all facts to the contrary as lies. Only M knows what is the truth.
The truely entertaining point is this: M corp. is mearly a charter from the US gov't. In theory the government could pull the plug if they wanted, based on this finding of fact.
At this point the government can do nearly anything it wants to M, including its shareholders. My guess is that M will be broken, and Mr. Bill's shares will be made non-voting. He will still have his worth, but no say and therefore the companies will truely be split up and independent of each other.
Now comes the funny part... M says that they disagree, that doesn't mean anything (legally). However their lawyers MUST recognize the newly found facts as facts, and argue how the law applies. In effect the lawyers must say "We broke the law, but it doesn't apply to us."
I actually believe that M truly is innovative... who would have ever thought that success is so easily gained through purchase? In 20 years, I want to read Mr. Gates' new book, 'A Look Behind: How to Purchase Success'
Nearly all of Microsoft's actions on their own were legal or at least gray areas in the law, but when brought together they show a trend of using monopoly power. That is what is illegal. Not the actions in their own right, but rather the sum of MS' actions.
This is done every day in normal court also. If you get caught speeding, the officer says "don't do that" and you go merrily on your way. If you get caught another time, You pay $100 bucks and go merrily on your way. If you get a third time, the same. If you get caught a fourth or fifth time, in most states you get your drivers licence taken away and possibly a fine. Why? Because you have shown a trend of being an irresponsible driver. Every one of your single actions were not really so bad, but the sum of your actions mean you don't get to drive for a while. You can contest this in court, and then [the judge] has to consider the sum of the actions.
but they do understand "kick" and "punch" and "dead".

a little thing called "strategy" ?
btw. why would the army be interested in physicists and chemists? Heck, geeks can't shoot worth crap ya know!
