Virtually any article about a piece of tech could be described that way. If it really truly bothers you (which I doubt, sorry.) then I suggest you don't comment in that particular thread because a high comment count will encourage them to keep posting these stories.
In other words, your whining is working against you.
It's called a battery case, it's great because you can choose if you want thin or battery. My battery case, for example, has a USB port so I can charge other stuff with it.
Google has also released the third preview of Android N. The company says that it is now safe enough to be used on your primary smartphone and tablet. The new update comes with a feature called "Seamless Updates" which will install system updates in the background.
Oh yeah? Have they finally made it so these updates don't require the carrier's permission to install?
Are these countermeasures a normal fixture in American schools now?
No. We're handling this by providing even more internet to the classroom. More pipes, more antennas, more bandwidth, more protocols, you name it. If you think that's crazy, you should see how we want to handle mass-shootings at schools.
A few days ago I had dinner with a friend of mine who worked on this project. Curiosity got the best of me and I said: "Level with me man, did you really create a random number generator?" And he said: "More or less."
Then how does Microsoft get away with supporting apps for its Windows Phone operating system, which is about as niche within the mobile market as X11/Linux is in the desktop market?
As I said, support for niche OSes costs money. Microsoft, not-unexpectedly, prioritized their own interests. If you're a Linux user this shouldn't be, at all, an unfamiliar story or even one exclusive to Microsoft.
Dunno... if I were in one of those 'stand your ground' states and had a firearm and some fucker came up to me and slapped me while his pal filmed it, I'd feel pretty safe shooting them both in the guts.
I wonder if those that use nice OSes have a higher incidence of hypertension.

Most of the articles on this site are about things we can go buy. Not sure what you're bitching about.
I don't understand why people confuse Slashdot for Reddit.
I forgot my password, could you tell me your mother's name again?
This is what you do when your products suck; suck ass, suck hind tit and suck moosecock.
This is what you do when your comment sucks; use the words suck, hind, tit, and mousecock.
I'll bet the bathrooms are even transgender!
Good.

It'll be Foxconn, but here on Slashdot that's really only interesting if it's Apple.
No, they're cheap because they're burning through piles of cash from their investors...
And why do you think they're going through the effort to keep the prices low?
Let's face it - the reason Uber and Lyft are so cheap is because they aren't regulated.
No, they're cheap because they have competition.
I think parallel is a much better word....
If you care whether your texts are encrypted, you're either paranoid or cheating on your wife. Get over yourself.
Slashdot's captcha should include an IQ test.
Your position with Steam isn't that much better. When it falls you will lose your games. At least with PSN you know it's a rental.
What can you get with $100 on the ps4?

Several free games a month for two years.
No, Google doesn't have any control over that.
Isn't Google holding the source code?

Heh. Here's s'more Slashdot'esque rationale:
"This device isn't patentable because it's (inconsistently) portrayed on Star Trek."
Of course it is the guys running on this OS that will write the competitor that people will move to when skype becomes unusable.
Please do, Skype sucks! Their big advancement lately is adding pop-culture emoji. Seriously, I have 'Angry Birds' smilies right now!!

It's no secret that Microsoft has long stopped caring about Skype for Linux.
It costs money to support software on a niche OS.

*Sigh* Another irresponsible gun owner.
Until we start talking about abuse towards their employees, then Apple is Foxconn's only client.
