I can see how running multiple processes would make Jail better for *BSD, but if you want to run an entirely different OS in a VM, it just isn't there. That said, I don't think VMware is as awesome as Xen, but Xen has trouble running certain OSes that VMware can run without issue (within reason), so I think they all have their strong areas of coverage.
If you plan on a municipality/federal government doing some kind of funding, which is available currently via the RUS grants through the FDA's website, you might well take 2-3 years to get it rolling. If you have funding from other sources, go for it! I actually started a WISP in the "Southwest" (Arizona) back in 2001 and it did well, but bandwidth costs were prohibitive. I sold out to a local Cell phone company and they still use the infrastructure we built out, but they could better afford the bandwidth.
There is a nice layer 7 firewall out now called Palo Alto that has the ability to actually distinguish between regular https and other protocols trying to use it's port. They of course are not cheap _or_ free, but they certainly work like a champ!
JEEZUS PEOPLE! STFU about Mac OS X already. It is very pretty and stable, but it is NOT a UNIX server. This started out about fucking IBM buying SUN, how about we get back to talking about that?!?
I bought a Rackable Systems dual proc, each with dual cores with 16 gig of ram and a 500gib hard drive (internal) off of ebay for less than $400 US. It is currently running 4 Checkpoint R65 firewalls, a windows 2003 server, a windows XP workstation and a Provider-1 management server. All that eats about 6-7 gigs of ram and 3 processors when the traffic gets pretty high. When I use the Provider-1 system to manage the firewalls, it boosts up to 4 cores and 8-10 gigs of ram. The system is quite noisy, but I stick it in another room and it helps. I have 2 terabytes of NAS that I run most of the VMs off of with a 24 port gigabit switch.
I guess they want the windows error message.wav files to sound really sweet when the shit melts down! Where the fuck would you put such a monster?!? Hide it in the garage with a 50ft. VGA cable attached and super wireless keyboard and mouse?
Novel needs to pull their collective heads out of their asses if they want to live on...They haven't done a bit of successful advertising since the 2000 superbowl, and that is questionable! They just don't seem to understand the fact that you need to have your shit in front of people in order to get them to buy it. Then they canceled Brain Share, that was the only place anyone ever gets the scoop on what they are doing. Damn! Why are they so stupid?!?
Well...let's see...they (Psion) could not sell enough of the product when they reportedly came up with the term "NetBook" and now that someone is selling them, they suddenly want the name to be protected because they want to capitalize on said term because it is now a buzz word. Does that make sense? Not being snarky, but just stating how it appears to me.
**Disclaimer** I am not a lawyer, nor do I pay one on T.V.
Mmmmm....Hash and Salt, that reminds me of a good breakfast!
I wonder if they will be using an RFC compliant pigeon... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_over_Avian_Carriers
My bad...I will say 100 "I Sucks" now...
There content filtering sucks like a fucking HOOVER!!

Are Bash and Oracle really programming languages?!? I would consider that more of a scripting language, and SQL.
And perhaps make you shit yourself while vomitting in every room in the house!! YAY! :o)

There are more scam artists in Arizona per sq. mile than any country, let alone state I have ever lived in!
WOW! You sure don't understand when someone is joking do you? How about you go fuck yourself with a chain saw?!?
They must be drinking their own cool-aid...running their MSDN/TechNet servers on Windows7 RC1...

Opting out of anything that is even close to being SPAMMY has been a bad idea since the early 90's...where have you been man?!?
Uhhh...so typing in "sudo apt-get upgrade" is hard?!?!?
We will rename Proxies to Application Firewalls once they get all the wording in their laws right and passed! :o)

Since when does Bill Gates actually have any kind of skills?!?

What small town in Iowa? I am packing up to move there now!
I am talking windows here. The update may be different on Apple products. I would try to confirm this if I had an Apple computer, but alas, I do not.
Well put! I suppose that is where I was going with my initial statement, but you put it in much better terms.
