  1. Re:Hmm... on Researchers May Have Found Cause of Type 2 Diabetes · · Score: 0

that is true for not just diabetics but other body related issues. The pharmacy companies are not going to jump up and onto something that could cut their cash cow. That is why you see companies like Lilly Co. pressing to keep a certain drug in their grasp. (ie. prozac).

I know that example is not with diabetics but that is one of the many examples of these drug companies trying to make money. Sure, there is the select few within each company who solely do it for the benefit of mankind, but not the overall corporations. I know that I am flaming the corps here, but the truth is out there, and the facts are there for your eyes to view. Take it or leave it.

  2. Stealing? on Sony BMG Says Ripping CDs is Stealing · · Score: 0

when someone takes valuables out of their own home, we can say that is stealing. when someone takes a bite out of their own hamburger from McDondalds, they are stealing. When someone takes a song off a CD that THEY have purchased, they stole a song from themselves. Taking money out of the "Starving" mouths of the artists. Lets suppose that we have bought Britney Spears CD a few years back... (hypothetically speaking here)...We should continue to pay Britney Spears for that song even though she is not updating it at all or changing it at all. Where is the logic here? Once you Own a song, You should not own it just on the CD/Tape/Record... but also on your PC, on your iPod, and so on. Now I can see where there is an argument for if you want to download A single from Ms. Spears, it would only be linked to the Downloading software (iTunes, Nappster, etc.) But I see it as: if you are buying a Hard Copy of the product, you should atleast own it on your medium. Not having one for CD player, one for mp3 player, one for tape player, etc. If you can copy it to another format "FOR YOURSELF" only, you should be able to use it.

about 4 years ago, my boss (at the time) stated that customer service was the most important thing to learn while under any field. When you create a product, you have to create it for someone. With this idea of creating an item for these people, you have to be able to ask yourself... "What is my product?" it might be food, programs, or a Service of some type. When you deal with people, (ie Retail, Law firm, Social Work) you are providing a service to a Customer (hints Customer Service). But don't forget that when producing a product (ie. programs, food, music, etc), you are also taking into consideration the Customer Service. You just don't think about it as much as when you deal with people up front. If Customers won't buy the produced product or service, your time is wasted. You want to make sure that when creating the product, you are going to be able to sell it. BUSINESS ECONOMICS talk from a web developer. I don't claim to know everything here, and I am not trying to troll, but I have been around the block enough to see these trends happening a few years ago after my former boss made his statement about Customer Service.

heck, about 10 years ago, when I was a freshman in high school, I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. I knew that college was the path that I wanted. But knowing which major i wanted? For crying out loud!

By the time I was done with high school, I had a clue to which major to declare. Now, I have successfully landed my first career position within the Software Development field because of it.

I say, Don't force students to decide @ 14-15, but open their worlds to new ideas. Give them a chance to view new ideas. Let them explore themselves (not talking about sexual but mental). I say by their final semester, they should have a Declaration and/or a well developed paper on their findings to their college/career path. Give them the sense that they must start developing their path to graduation (and beyond) at Freshman year (high school). To unwillingly force someone at such a tender age will provide terrible results in wich these kids will not know if this is the perfect fit for them.
