On one Desktop installed 2000 two hard disc failures in 8 years. The ease of repair and putting back into use is more important than just the failure rate.
1. It may be combination of router and MS software , but router just locked up and ceased functioning atthe 'prepare for download , when 100% prepare reached. Aborted download 3 times.
Downloaded other matter, other XP pro upgrades, from MS after these aborts , so it is this specific download/router combination. (I use Thomson router issued by ISP BT in UK)

The human thing is if no working laptop, no pay! I.e log on having backed up is necessary to register a paid day of work.

1. Our set up does not allow third party web mail, but all sites in the domain are also compromised on continuity of business by not having an out-of-our-domain-separate-land-line- web/internet-connected computer. When our internal systems go down, so does email.
This could cause loss of life (we respond to emergencies on oil rigs as well as doing other work such as tender closing date/times where 24/7/365-6 is important)
2. Prior to closure of email by third party web sites, we responded through individuals Gmail or Yahoo mail or whatever in domain down time, such as local telecon having a fire in their premises causing down time on internal domain.
3. Thus if you close the mail to outside third party use, correctly, you need to install a stand alone 'public computer' to which work in extremis can be transferred vis a USB key or CD and communications maintained. If you want if without any possibility of recording to hard drive for infection, use computer with a live Linux system such as Knoppix.
This was most useful in a hotel cupboard-fire,where wired/wireless systems were knocked out by minor fire (affected servers in closet)but land telephone line was active and used vis Knoppix and independent computer.
For all personal and work in word processing OO.o works well, For spreadsheet work in an engineering office it works OK,. We do not use graphs so plot is not a factor in MS Office vs OO.o. We run a small company totally on F/OSS software with most sets on Linux. The Windows boxes also use OO.o and Abiword, and are dual booting Plus, and a big big plus, OO.o exports to pdf which we use for sending documents to customers. ONLY application holding us to Windows or MS software is accounts,as we use VAT style accounts in EU and use a Windows product (proprietary). For home or general office use, there is no need to use MS office.

The entire below water level hull was regularly allowed to be enveloped in partial and complete bubble layer(s). The lower hull layer reduced friction and power consumption for sea movement , however the energy to generate and disperse the bubbles was greater than the friction saviing. Proces may not be energy efficient.

A MS only Lenovo would appeal to such corporations/military orgs and gives the Lenovo a marketing muscle/unique point inside and outside China.

Please teach technical folks to always define parts per billion or billions as a number (scientific notation)as well as text words in any text for clarity to avoid deaths by the use of USA billion (10 to 9th power) as opposed to Asian and European billion ( 10 to 12th power).
In pharmaceutical industry and general welfare this is a crucial error for USA folks overdosing when in UK, Europe and Asia.
e.g. 10 parts per US billion is a gross overdose on 10 parts per UK billion , if the origin of number is not noted.

Some years ago I did some studies into deaths at fires in buildings, as very few people used the well marked EXIT paths, but most ran in panic back through the way they came in. It was suggested that large crowd shows in theatres etc must enter people by the fire exit ways to ensure correct rapid exiting, but commercially this was not possible ( extra staff and entry points by-pasing the sales of extra stuff) and the fire authorities thought our results as "odd".
