It was user situation dependent. Firefox was reading all of a user's temp files to seed its RNG or something along those lines so if you had a lot of large temp files your startup time would be quite large.
Regardless, it still takes 5x Chrome's startup time with the fix so... peh.
I thought the lack of adblock and noscript would be an issue when switching - but it really isn't. The much more streamlined, speedier experience just makes up for it (well, it doesn't "make up" for it since I realised the ads just don't bother me - adblock, solving a problem I didn't know I had!).
The DRM that caused so many of the problems? Where's your source on this... as far as I know the DRM is *inactive* and is just there for *future purposes* (it's the ICT flag which while not confirmed, dates of 2010 and 2012 are the common ones floated for when it'll be activated).
Don't you get it! NBN = FASTER. FILTER = SLOW. They balance each other out! We can maintain the status quo, and for only several billion dollars! It's a bargain!
Educational institutions don't pay anywhere near RRP for Apple products.
Android tablets are ALREADY here. Haven't heard of them? They suck. The ones that are coming, could be good, but they're not here now.
You obviously haven't actually used 7 (though your criticisms are somewhat more valid for Vista) if you think there's too many UAC prompts. :P
And therefore the smallest error results in zero marks.
So when /. is debating moves against piracy it'll yell "OH NO IT'S NOT THEFT IT'S COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT" but if it's an MS article...

Since you obviously don't know what a patent troll is: Patent trolls are entities/people who control hoards of patents but don't actually do anything.
That has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
Love how you try to equate to unequal situations there with a nice little ending statement. Doesn't work.

There is an option that you have to check to allow updates to things other than Windows.
Second only to Warren Buffet.
3 versions for consumers. Basic, Premium and Ultimate. Choose based on your PC use. How hard can it be?

Your post made sense until (and after) I got to the part where you mention offshoring and outsourcing. How is that (conceptually) white collar theft?

Because music players are so much more now.
Linux is all about reinventing the wheel. FOSS is all about reinventing the wheel.
Use automated ads like Google Adsense? The issue their of course would be neutrality on articles centered around Google.
Risk, it's how they make decisions to attack countries.

Why only Conroy? It's not like he's a rogue minister pushing this against his party's will.
