  1. I'm not sure where in my comment you hallucinated the word "all".

Yes, the separatists do seem to be the worst. Who would have thought that identifying with an extreme nationalist movement based on heratige might align with xenophobia ....

  2. Sure, I've gotten way more conservative over the years... But I don't remember it being THAT leftist back then.

It wasn't, but neither was the USA. Both have slid to the left since then.

Canada didn't run out of weed; the "approved" (aka legal) distributors had problems keeping up with the demand as people tried to switch away from the gray/black market. There was plenty of weed to go around; just not through the legal channels.

That's part of it. The other part is that we've progressively handcuffed police over time to the point that enforcement of the law when the perpetrator is native has become incredibly difficult. Even if police manage to investigate and effect an arrest, chances are the perp ends up in a "healing lodge" on some reserve instead of in a prison.

  5. What scares me more about what is happening in Canada is the worst asshole racists are starting to come out of the closet now that the US has one huge racist criminal asshole as President.

If a handful of goons yelling racist insults at a Quebec hockey game scares you, you must have spent your whole life completely terrified. Quebeckers have always been quite a bit more racist than the rest of Canada. I guess they figure they're a "minority group" so it's OK.

Right now, standard macroeconomic theory is that the population needs to constantly grow or else the economy is going to be fucked.

I've never met a single economist who believed this. I'm sure there are a handful, but calling it "standard" is absurd.

That's a fun fantasy, but given that "the rich"in the west tend to be the most gushing of the bleeding hearts, it is just that; a fantasy. Even if all of the philanthropists, movie stars, professional athletes, and other sundry nouveau riche twats suddenly turned evil and decided they wanted global domination, history shows us that - absent a massive cultural change - their offspring would grow up looking for a cause, and likely turn towards something akin to the communist revolutions of the past, looking to fight for "the common man".

Now if you placed your fantasy in a place like, say, China, it might be a little more plausible. Even there, though, I would expect things to evolve in a similar direction, if somewhat more slowly.

  11. Even if Mulatto was at one point an acceptable term, so were retard, idiot, moron, imbecile and cretin. We cant do much about slur creep, other than to pay attention and not use the particular words deemed offensive

So calling some idiotic moron and imbecilic cretin is unacceptable? That's retarded. What am I supposed to call him? An "alternately-abled information challenged individual"? Yeah that just rolls of the tongue.

Of course those words will give offense when used as an insult. They are not offensive in and of themselves though. Just like "yellow" and "mullato" could be used in a context which makes them insulting, but have zero negative connotations in the context of an employment questionnaire. Pretty much ANY word can be used as an insult/slur. People who don't understand that are fucking retarded.

Note how it requires him to submit his Tesla related tweets to the agreed review process before publication.

No, it doesn't. You are lying again. The exact wording is "written communications that reasonably could contain information material to Tesla or it's shareholders". That's nowhere near the same as all Tesla related tweets. Moreover you first suggested that he was completely prohibited from tweeting about Tesla, and now you've changed that to "well he has to have it reviewed first". If you keep changing your claim you will eventually be in the realm of factual commentary, but it would be nice if you would acknowledge that that's what you're doing.

Tesla appointed someone to review his tweets, and they quit after one day.

And now you're just repeating bullshit you read from other idiots on here. Who was this mysterious person who quit after one day? There seems to be no record of him. If you're referring to Dane Butswinkas, he left after two months, so you've only underestimated his actual length of employment by a factor of 60 or so.

  17. No, I'm not sure that it's the correct sequence; it's just a guess. Your "comic nerds clawing back" guess is possible too; just seems anecdotally unlikely to me given the rarity of Captain Marvel fans out there. I know quite a few comic book nerds and none of them cared much about this movie even prior to all the hubub about the star being a raging cunt. I doubt that there's a silent legion of fans out there which was just waiting to come to the film's defense.

Whatever the case, it's pretty clear there's a lot of fuckery going on, and the "urmaghurd sexism" excuse is going to come out any time a female-led movie receives anything but glowing praise. Which is absurd given the incredible success of Wonder Woman less than 2 years ago, but it's par for the course these days.

  18. Sure they can, when that's what he agreed to do.

  21. I did not make a claim that the OP was intending to be sexist. I said, quite explicitly, assuming that the poster did *NOT* intend to sound misogynist...

Right. I assume that you didn't intend to sound like a clueless cunt?

  22. Now that's how you make an insightful comment! Well done.

It's a bit of a double edged sword though. Captain Marvel still has a 28% positive rating. 28% of 44,735 is 12,525 which means that just the positive ratings are still higher than the total ratings of all of the other movies you listed. And prior to the recent precipitous drop, the rating was up in the 95%+ range.

Conclusion: given that Captain Marvel is a relatively unknown character, the ratings were likely being "bombed" by the opposite site at the outset, which led to a backlash. Now they're complaining because they're losing at their own game.
