Why stop at just Americans? It could track everyone in the world who isn't a hardened criminal or paranoid.
We could make sure no 'normal' person, in the world, emails pictures of their kids, gets a bit to 'extreme' in their home made porn, or wears the wrong colour tie in photos.
maybe they should light & power the room from the power generated from the exercise machines. it'd be a new incentive to work harder in the gym, if you dont, it goes dark & gets cold.
wolf3d ran in full screen mode on my 12.5mhz 286, from dos, dont think i dared try it on top of windows. i think that extra 1.5mb ram & svga you had mustve made the difference for windows & 3.0 probably ran a little faster on 286s than 3.1. 3.1 wasnt very useful on my 286.
yeah, i was envious of my friend that had a 386 too, he had a 386/16 with 4mb ram, svga & a 120mb hdd, he could run windows properly (in 386 enhanced mode!), and run all the games that refused to run on my 286.
but my 286 did make me appreciate the 486/66 i upgraded to.
but if your mac breaks, beyond reasonable repair, you're forced to buy apple hardware (and another copy of your os) to replace it, if you still want to access your old data reliably. so it is pretty similar to how ms wants to make windows.
if prices get too high, people will find alternatives & maybe start to use less oil, that could start a trend the oil companies dont want. they want the prices to go up, but they don't want any real panic, that'd be a disaster.
rumours & theories circulating will help push prices up, confirming it would cause panic & make people/companies really try very hard to find alternatives to oil.
well, if major pc manufacturers start shipping pcs without windows, they lose their discount pricing on windows & other ms software.
however, you are totally right, thats a totally separate issue & thats what they should be fighting against. ms should be allowed to charge as much as they want for windows, as long as pc oems arent penalised for selling pcs without windows.
and also, obviously, keep trying to find a job in development, if that's what you want to do. teach yourself using the net & find a way to prove your skills, then offer to work for next to nothing in your first development job. once you have that first development job, if you do well at it & get some experience, it shouldnt be too hard to find other jobs.
you've got a couple of years to find that first dev job though, until then, find any computer related job & concentrate on teaching yourself how to be a better programmer. if you arent going to go to college, the most important thing to do is learn how to educate yourself.
go for any job related to computers you can get. there wont be many places that want to take you on as a developer, not even a junior one, at 17, unless you can easily prove you have the skills.
any tech job, even if you're just making the coffee part time at a computer retailer will help you. obviously, the closer you get to development, the better, but you're only 17, don't worry, plenty of time to find a better job.
continue development as a hobby, until you have the skills needed to get a development job, sharpen your skills on the net, contribute to open source projects, etc. In 2 years you could be a really good developer & have a head start on your peers that went to college, if you work for it.
'Take a Linux guy that has never maintained sendmail or equivalent'
surely there cant be that many of those around, and even if you did find one, after maybe an hour (maximum) reading the step-by-step howto, he could set up a reliable email system, using sendmail/imap/pop3.
it does nasty things to your bones too.
fluoride is also known to make people more passive, it was first used by the nazis, in prisons, so the prisoners needed fewer guards.

in soviet russia, pigeons home in on you!

imagine being the lucky guy that has to watch 100 britney videos, every day, as his job.
i had windows 3.1 on a 12.5mhz 286 with 1mb ram, vga graphics & 40mb hard drive.
it couldnt do much apart from play solitare & took a large portion of the hdd, so i deleted it not long after seeing that it worked.
true hardcore gamers dont have friends.
lol
yes, thats exactly how it should be, you could store your key on a usb thumb drive & take it with you.

the reward, is being able to sell related services & hardware.

and its cheaper than dumping their out of date stock.
do you have any idea of the distances involved?

or any other security measure. if you dont let all the skiddies in, you are in breach, with that wording.
