i doubt that you would, having admitted your lack of knowledge of neuron-interaction, reccomend and petition for extreme and scientifically controversial experimentation on said dickhead
If the bodies claiming global warming is a CO2 related effect are simply abstracting, then we're all being lied to.
Hey.. I find it fascinating that we freely admit we have little idea how the sun works yet we're absolutely certain that mainkind is causing global warming.....
I personally feel theres an arrogance about assuming
a) We can cause climate change
b) We can do anything to stop it
and for every claim of oil money funding people who dont fall in line, i think we shouldnt underestimate the power of band-wagons in society.. Just because alot of people think something is bad, doesnt mean it is.
to those who believe in mans influence of climate change, please try to remember, we arent all under the corporate thumb, we just feel like we're being told not to sail too close to the the edge of the earth
perhaps the best way to predict who'll commit crime is to look at what we let out of our prisons early. Why do we only seem to think that paedophiles are the only ones who'll reoffend?
Hey, don't get me wrong, i love the beeb and all our national broadcasters, but they dont schedule tv when its convenient for me!!
I too have tried to get the bbc to relinquish dvds etc of some classic tv (if you ever see world of pub, buy it for me.. i'll pay!!) but they are too set in their ways.. maybe this is the wake up call!
Hustle is good, Dr Who i think has tailed.. and if u value ur own time.. ignore a show called 'torchwood'!
I watch tv online for 2 reasons:
1. its on now! Why should the USA get series of popular tv shows months before the uk..
2. i can watch when i want! im a busy person, and i dont always have time to sit and watch a show when tv decides to schedule.
Put ads on the downloads if u like, but im still gonna do it.
why doesnt the industry embrace this side of broadcasting, which has done all the marketing and distribution itself
Appriciated..
Im sure i remembered playing with a generator that came up with a few T, and was on a mobile trolley. Thanks for the reply:)
Whats the size of the tube in this case? the article isnt the most technical
I was really looking forward to seeing the rebuttal to Monckton, i agree with the original argument (that climate change has been exaggerated) But the number of people who felt otherwise lead me to think we'd quickly see a strong, well constructed reply.
I think this article is insulting both to Monckton and to all those who feel that climate change is dangerously affected by mankind. It comes as little suprise to me that an article of this quality is associated with the Guardian newspaper.
I like to think of myself as a scientist (and uni did sort of agree with me), and while i would not try to claim i have a new theory, it does seem that mr Monckton's numbers were valid and his sources and methodology reasonable.. remember, he was not proving that global warming is not happening, just that the true facts may be being distorted. This article doesnt even try to disprove any of moncktons ideas (which a quick check of the/. history will show some very interesting discussion)
AFAIK, even scientists are split down the middle, much as they are with issues such as god, i find the lack of reasonable dialogue at the highest level to be worryingly indicative of interests beyond ours being served at government level.
to insert some conjecture, i think the western governments may have seen the push for cleaner tech as an opportunity to reclaim some advantage economically over the chinese and indian economies, even looking to high tech, we will only have an advantage for a short time, but this is the best motivator i can see for going green. Saying that, I would imagine even if britain stopped producing carbon altogether, the chinese opening a new power station every week (roughly) would overtake our saving in a matter of years.
finger prints are quite cool in real life, cos they can produce random numbers but with common features that can be identified. They also have a prescence-thats a bit hard to explain, but imagine going into a shop, approaching the cashier and saying you've left your cc at home.. its ok tho, cos u remember the number and they can just type it into the till manually.
go on, try it:)
When we're transmitting over the web, it becomes just a number we're sending, a number which can be intercepted, saved, stored or faked. In the same way firefox automatically puts my password into boxes online, it wont be long before you dont need to actually swipe your finger, just access a saved copy, then it just becomes a fancier, longer password.
No system where the method of scanning is given to home users will ever be fraud proof. i personally think this system is poorly thought out. if you dont like typing in your cc, there are lots of programs which will run alongside browsers and automatically input your details.
--All that and i dont even mind my fingerprints being held on file.. i cant wait to see how the data protection fanatics jump on this one:D
Do you think ISP's of this nature will be required by some anti-terror law to maintain records of surfing? Surely if BT have to, this compnay should? maybe i'll re-read tfa.
I think part of the point is that sweedish law gives much higher burdens of proof for requesting such info. TFA gives some interesting (but maybe unreliable given US law's recent incursions) info about the law they rely on
get out of their countries and stop killing their families and co-religionists. Pretty easy
That might be simple, but it aint easy. if we stop messing with other countries, its like moving into a gated community and ignoring the criminals outside, eventually, they'll get in.
dont get me wrong, im fairly sure alot of the terror stuff is a new labour scare-them-shitless-so-they'll-forget-we're-crap policy, but that doesnt mean we shouldnt arrest them.
What should the level of proof required for an attempted terrorist charge? the sad fact is that we cant have any real proof unless we wait till they do it. i think that gets in the way of a traditional trial just a wee bit
Firstly i dont disagree with the statement regarding anti-competetiveness. Competition is, at the end of the day, why we sleep inside and the cat sleeps out- deal with it.
Windows is a product who's massive world-wide adoption means it has a lot of pressure upon it to keep itself static. every day we hear about sys-admins who almost cripple their companies because they didnt want to comprimise system uptime to install a patch, even home users want a system that at least switches on before it comes up with some unintelligable error.
I would think the risk of changing the bootloader from underneath such a massive complex is unacceptable. fine, perhaps they should have done it in the first place, but thats in the past.
Equally look at the demand for fixes from each community. windows users want security and features. i very much doubt a more accessible bootloader would enter the top 100 of most peoples windows-wants
i hope vista works better with linux.. it would help with my yearly 'I think i should try linux' bender
or paste it to your forehead and install a system of glowing neon arrows pointing to it while shouting your name, rank and serial number through a megaphone.
-Its RFID or nothing, i aint subsidising megaphones and glowing arrows
Maybe your right, it just always irritates me when ideas like this are dismissed without real cause on grounds like privacy. A bit like people who stop thinking about viri as soon as they install an antivirus, i think its probably quite dangerous to let people think there info is secure just beacuse they avoid RFID.
Thinking about it, i dont know or have any idea how i'd test to see if my passport has RFID. I might already be being cloned
As someone else posted, most americans are fairly conspicuous anyway. At very worst, RFID's make the process quicker, but its no different to mugging someone for their passport, breaking into their room, stealing their briefcase. Why carry ID if you dont want to be identified?
I know these are popular views on slashdot, but im not trolling. i genuinely think this is an idea to be considered. call me a fool if u want, but not a troll
Im sure people could fake my passport without it ever leaving my room, are passports a secure enough concept regardless of media?
I read that the UK DVLA no longer needs to see your passport to verfiy id, and to get your photo and signiture, so thats all stored somewhere just waiting to be hacked
I suppose the worrying side of that is that weapons such as mines or explosives or even rockets could be RFID seeking, not just americans in general, but specific people/groups
Meh.. im never going to agree.
why is it anyone who believes in global warming is 'insightful' but people who dont are trolls?
i doubt that you would, having admitted your lack of knowledge of neuron-interaction, reccomend and petition for extreme and scientifically controversial experimentation on said dickhead

Scientific rigorousness.. Look it up
Hey.. I find it fascinating that we freely admit we have little idea how the sun works yet we're absolutely certain that mainkind is causing global warming.....
you're just lucky you're not in soviet russia- where i understand the subject and objects of a statement are reversed for the sake of comedy
I, for one, welcome our new XXXXX overlords
come on!
Good point,
I personally feel theres an arrogance about assuming

(in the uk) reoffending rates are more than 50%

Isnt that quite weak in scientific terms?

good, cos I expect even reducing n^2 tasks to 2n wont give us playable frame rates with aero glass.

thank god! i thought it was just me that loved DS9..
2 is a much bigger number than one!!

Thats a flaw in the present system. Doesnt have to be a problem with a new system
