actually with auto start stop tech and electric vehicles, that DOES play into efficiency these days. It may not have to (GP stated that slower is more efficient, I brought the constant into play) you are correct, start stop has nothing to do with a constant speed, however that was no a part of the equation. "slower = more efficient) was the equation and i disagree
thats not entirly true, slower is not generally more efficient. take for example driving 50MPH in a 2nd or 3rd gear, this will cause more gas to be used than driving 75 in a low gear
also why would "city" gas milage be lower (up to 10 MPH lower these days) if driving slow was better?
driving at a constant speed is the most efficient, regardless of speed.
I never cared about the (this was on XXX hours/days ago) argument. I dont care if another site shows something first, I go to sites like these for the user generated content. Sure I could have read about this sooner at other locations, but there are not any good commentators at other sites (well there might be, I just havent found them)
I liked the digg interface and usability, pre v4. redit has one of the worst designs on the web today, maybe only outdone by 4chan. The content is usually great but navigation is a disaster, thats something I like about digg and slashdot, while there ar elots of great things in idle, both digg and/. have a logical flow and easy to use nav. I suspect you are right though, alot of the digg regulars have migrated to reddit
fair enough, I guess I just am not in the same camp as you, Than again I have a first gen xbox that has c64 and atari games on it. I like being able to use my old software (or, old software), I dont like being locked out of something, when there is no technological reason for the lockout.
cant run the latest games? Im running D3 on a machine that I built in 2004! now it was top of the line in 04 around 3400$ and I built it up (amd machine ATI vid card) and the ony changes to it were replaced fans and replaced hard drive (expansion, not crash) in 2004, a machine from 2000 was unusable, but today, a good desktop should easily last, with good upkeep (change the sparkplugs) years.
so a simple GPU check, if it can handle it do it if not dont (you know, like Aero)
yeah I know, slashdot, M$ evil apple god, but seriously, when MS can handle the different GPUS yet apple cant (wont) thats a problem. To put it another way, would you have been ok with windows XP ONLY working on flat screen LCD screens? Would you be ok with windows 7 ONLY working on 1080P screens? so why limit the os based on the screen?
In your point concerning Dexter, One could simply argue that it was the title that brought the issue to light, but other, legal videos were having a similar issue, and therefore the issue still needed to be resolved.
Honestly regardless ones feelings on apple or microsoft, this is a good thing for the consumer. The more the giants battle, to be number one, the better the outcome usually.
standard car analogy, look at the stagnant small cars in the 80s, the imports came in and swooped up. Due to that, the domestics hard to reinvent themselves, and slowly but surely we have way better small cars now than we did then.
That may have been true XX years ago, that isnt the case now. shouldnt the laws reflect the reality? and that reality being that ALL men are equal, as intended??
exactly, I pay in total over 50% of my salary in taxes to various locations and another 8% on purchases, Than property/school taxes on top of that. And I make less than 50 grand a year.
It is even worse than you realize, Due to W getting elected, When people got fed up with him as I did, we ended up with obama, Which is way worse than what we had 10 years ago.
and the reason they use that talking point is only because those on the left like to talk about how the rich dont pay their fair share. Its a cylindrical argument but If the people who pay the majority of the taxes, were not accused of not paying their fair share, I am sure that the talking point you refer to would not be in play.
What a lot of people miss is that the people right on the cutoff line, those who make JUST enough to get by, but not enough to get a 2.2% tax on their total income for not having insurance. The problem is these are the people who would LOVE to have insurance, but to them its between food on the table a roof over their heads or insurance, which one would you buy?
now you got the government telling you you have to buy insurance, and if you dont they will take 2.2% of your money from you! This 2.2% might be the difference between making the rent payment and sleeping on the street for a lot of people. I dont understand how anybody can look at this and say its a good thing.
the problem when talking about taxes is we ignore ALL the other taxes when we talk about "taxes" If we are being truthful, a new yorker pays well over 60% of his money in taxes when you count state/fed/SS/medicare sales and other taxes. Add in the new 2% tax on total income if you dont buy health insurance, and yes, taxes are pretty damn high.
yes and no, if you are using facebook or any number of services you can auto login and comment with said account, so while yes you need an account, the majority of the people these days have some sort of account somewhere that huffpo accepts.

true, I am not trying to agrue who is correct (everyone is) and who is wrong (everyone is) just playing with the context.

you still have faith in this DOJ???

ever notice that its always insults from those who want to take away peoples money, never civil discourse.

because you know everyone in the community?? (why is there always a new letter added every few years??)
