    Their whole job is dealing with people who do crime and ask for forgiveness later. I don't condone what they are doing, but I can see how they could slip in that direction.

    I can see how this might work against somebody stealing a car as it is something that can be relatively easy to track. But tracking a person as they go into the subway is difficult or if somebody is wearing a hoodie. It still wouldn't touch the big players in organized or white collar crime.

    I think giving money to homeless and charity don't do enough to prevent this in the first place. I would rather my money go towards things like health care or programs that help the struggling before they become homeless.

    This article presumes people give a rat's ass about saving fuel or driving safely.

    I remember when gas prices started climbing a couple years ago and hit the $1CAD/L mark. The news had stories of changing driving habits and how to save fuel. Fast forward to $1.30CAD/L and nothing has changed. People love to complain about how high the gas prices are, but telling them that changing their habits will save them money falls on deaf ears.

    To be honest, AMERICAN culture doesn't either. Is why celebrities, athletes, and entertainers are paid dump truck loads of cash while the really intelligent folks ( scientists, reaearchers, you know folks who actually create the world as we know it today ) are compensated at a much lower level.

    If this were true the why are there no celebrities, athletes, and entertainers on the Forbes Billionaires List(I didn't actually look past #800)? That list is stacked with people running businesses with either new or old money. They own or hire the celebrities, athletes, and entertainers to promote their products.

    To top it off theFortune 500 isn't littered with companies that directly hire celebrities, athletes, and entertainers.

    I can guarantee you that the average and top engineers makes more than the average and top celebrity/athlete/entertainer.

    think about it, this is possibly one of the most important things that we as a society can do...protect our selves from the large number of inevitable asteroid strikes which will wipe out millions of people instantly.

    My car analogy is that this project is improving the detection of tractor trailers hitting park cars. Call me when the car can do something about it.

    Do you think it should be OK for Apple to avoid paying taxes and stick you with the bill even if they aren't breaking any laws by doing so?

    The bill is for copyright and patent protection. I bet they would clamoring to pay their taxes if they didnt receive those benefits.

    I think there is a problem with our healthcare system when we end up as a nation (USA) consuming 80% of all painkillers prescribed worldwide.

    You have a healthcare system that runs on profit and kickbacks. Creating a happy pill is cost-effective, compared to other treatments, and can rake in the money with a generous markup.

    If there is a market for child pornography there is a stronger incentive to abuse children. People will produce more of it where it is actually legal to produce (or the legal system is too weak to stop it).

    Child porn is advertising for child sex tourism. If advertising didn't work we wouldn't have billboards.
