Obviously the ability to accurately fling feces is a highly evolved and necessary skill. Should we be so fortunate to aquire that!!!
(yes yes, i know, "more evolved != more advanced").
Sorry, this is a game centric "feature" list and not for anything useful.
DOOM I/][
Wall running
Killer BFG eyes
Silent BFG
BF1942 with DesertCombat mod (v.2? or v.3?)
Invisible Mortar (my favorite)
One of the v.2? or v.3? versions had a great bug where you could toss a mortar into many static/useless objects (eg. cargo containers), 'enter' (use) the mortar, and be invisible to everyone. You could sit in there and shoot to your hearts content. You could kill these weeners by dropping a grenade or explosives within range.
Al Kafji docks had a boat you could drive hummers up on to & then "fall through the cracks" with it into the middle of the boat & be hidden yet see & shoot at your enemies. You could usually fix these weeners with ex. packs.
Superman bug that lets you fly if you jump into water while mashing some keys. You could gain access to rooftops for sniping or quicly fly to the far side of the map to capture a base.
Unreal Tournament with the RB Car mod
After the game is done and you're staring at he score screen, you can get out of the RB car and continue playing and even capture the flag while everyone is frozen. I've seen it happen several times and twice to change the winning team.
SysInternals provided "junction" for free and then was bought by microsoft but the tool is available:
Junction
Just to confirm for you, junctions are implemented in NTFS for Win2000 as that's what I'm using. One could probably dev a plugin for explorer to call junction or linkd and perform the magic. I don't need it that often so I just use the commandline.
I didn't find it awkward to use.
I think "linkd" (Microsoft) came with one of their "extra" resource kits you could purchase.
They will work accross logical drives, they do not work accross network file systems (as of the time of this writing). I cannot confirm if they work accross different physical devices on the same machine.
I was sick of all this crapware installing stuff to my "C:" which I have reserved for the OS so I made a junction from "C:\Program Files" to "E:\Program Files" just in case I forget to type "E:" when installing something or if they decide to drop stuff into "Common Files". It all goes to E:, wether they like it or not and it is seamless and accesssible from C:
I also did this for my Home dir to a data section of my system .
C:\>dir Directory of C:\ ... 09/25/2006 03:45p <JUNCTION> Program Files ...
I'll never understand why Americans are so bitter about this. I don't have a single colleague who can say they lost their job to offshore outsourcing, or even has any trouble getting a new job for great pay.
Well, I lost a cushy job to outsourcing... only it wasn't Indians... it was Canadians! Damn their ice hockey, bacon, and Rush!
Don't worry, I lost your cushy job to the Indians 3yrs later (August 2006 actually...sorry about that). They tried to contact me through my former employer about 2 weeks after the transition was complete (and I was out the door) for some help but I never heard back from them after providing my modest rate for contract work and minimum term requirements. I guess the new team really couldn't do the needful.
Oh well, I've moved on to better things and I'm sure you have too - that job was stagnating our skills. Change is good!!!
Since our dollar is only $0.11 shy of being on par with yours, the major bu$ine$$ benefit of outsourcing up north is gone. In 2003 when it was like $0.45 shy of par it was extremely attractive. Damn your president (GWB Jr.) forcing your dollar to plummet.
It's too damn expensive to purchase & get into all the "hot" games.
It's too damn time consuming to install, patch, and get proficient in all the "hot" games.
In Descending order, the last games I purchased are:
GTA:SA - A good time waster - doesn't require much dedication. I can jump in, drive around & destroy things, maybe do a mission if i feel like it but isn't necessary. I can quit instantly.
BF2 - It was fun (especially the enhanced team based stuff) but I swapped it for a copy of F.E.A.R because a friend said it kicked ass - I haven't tried F.E.A.R yet though. My lack of playing BF2 was hardware related (said harddware was working and then died).
BF1942:Secret Weapons - meh.
BF1942/DC - I still play this - it's a lot of fun & lets you do things BF2 won't let you. The DC mod is what keeps this alive for me - an excellent game. Too bad about it's patch history.
UT99 - A helluva lot of fun and a lot of people are still playing it - tons of servers out there still. It is stable (except for some 3rd party mods), quick/easy to get into, quick/easy to quit.
I did not upgrade because to UT2k3 becuase it did not have vehicles and I was mostly playing BF/DC at the time and then I didn't bother getting in to UT2k4. Shock rifle, teleporter, piston, and 3rd party maps make this game great in addition to the map downloads - why the hell can't other game developers catch on? downloading compressed & redirected maps INSTANTLY is kickass++. The game interface is also among the best.
Medal of Honor:AA - beautiful maps, nice to play, no vehicles:(
Quake 3 - no longer play it
Quake I - no longer play it but I did try it once last week to DM a friend.
DOOM ][ - still love this game but haven't played it recently.
DOOM I - still love this game but haven't played it recently.
I also picked up a few games in various bargain bins (Descent ]|[, bloodrayne, another copy of BF1942 for the Ser # for lan games) for under 10 bux.
In 1985 when I was in grade 2 or 3, my parents picked up a Vic-20 for around $100 U.S. at Woolco or K-Mart when we visited Grand Forks. I still have it, the original box, tape drive, and several of the games that we got at the time. I remember it entertaining me for hours punching in pre-written BASIC programs & seeing/hearing the results.
Turning off the cell phone is not enough not to be traced.
It is a much better solution to unplug the battery.
How do you know that it doesn't store a charge in a capacitor or small battery with enough power to send out a "shutting down" signal to the tower when it detects power loss?
In either case, your "tracker" would still know where you were last - if you were in a "good coverage" area, chances are that you wouldn't suddenly lose connection which is suspicious. Perhaps a faraday cellphone case would be in order?
Well, the only Mega Bloks I've seen are the large versions of Lego - Take 4 keys from your keyboard, stick 'em together and they're about that square but slightly smaller. They say Mega Bloks on the outside - Duplo might exist on the packaging somewhere, I have not checked. We purchased a Mega Bloks wagon full of these things for our son for his 1st b-day - I have not opened them yet from good ole Toys R Us. I am by no means a toy fanatic and I have not seen the smaller versions of these Mega Bloks of which they speak although I guess they exist. I have also never seen the large LEGO versions although by what you say, they must also exist.
You want loose blocks so infants can develop the motor skills necessary to use them without getting frustrated on lego....that and lego is a choking hazard where mega blocks are not.
You can't give Lego to your 6 to 36 month old. Mega Bloks aren't made for you - they are made for infants/children so they can't choke on 'em. They put EVERYTHING in their mouth wether you like it or not. They need to be easy to separate for infants to actually enjoy.
It is e-mail, transfered in plain text and hosted on a 3rd partie's assets - nothing is "private".
IIR would likely go bankrupt trying to pay for the bandwidth and storage costs and infrastructure necessary to host all the incoming e-mail. I think it'd make for a great dilbert strip if IIR tried to hook up & snag all that gmail traffic. Hell, I can't even keep up to the mailing lists I'm on. I double dog dare them.
I'd put CSI up there - all their evidence gathering & sleuthing uses science & some form of logic reasoning. Add in the fictional characters and plots & you get Science Fiction. Oh, and it is entertaining - a big plus!

That's kuz they use North & South American free webmail to send their crap.
Of course, because I do not have a multimillion dollar marketing budget, there is nothing I can do to get the word out about it.
You just lost the opportunity to provide a link to your CompreXX s/w. "FGI!" you might say, but you're not making it any easier for us to find you.
Of course,/. being an OSS thumping "gimme free tools" user base, you may find it difficult to pedal your wares to this crowd anyway.
Personally, I hate the "open as a folder" thing with windows/winrar/etc... I still prefer the winzip classic interface so I can "extract to" my defined path.
Still, my favorite "*zip feature of all time" are the Windows Explorer extensions that allow me to right clicky & zip to a file name that has already been supplied so I don't need to mess around with typing in a GUI environment.
I'm sorry. That's like saying "Because the user didn't click in PRECISELY the right spot the program crashed"
I have not seen the system, but I would disagree. If a forklift operator continuously only gets 1/2 the load on to the forks and the machine tips over, that is still the fault of the operator - it was not designed to work that way. This system was designed to have baggage placed correctly so that the process would zip along. If you hang bags 1/2 off the assembly, you're just asking for them to be thrown to the ground at high speed or ripped to shreds by moving parts. How hard could it possibly be to place the bags properly?
I'd rather support our godawful tobacco taxes than let those wankers try to dictate how our fair use should work.
dictionary.reference.com knows misspelt
Encarta knows misspelt
Meriam-Webster does not understand misspelt but suggestes the root word "misspell" (and "misspelled")
So, you misspelt "misspelt".
You misspelt "two"

In Canada, an employer requires it for your taxation - they need it to generate your T4 (and what have you) at tax time.
Any employer distributing the SSN/SIN in any form, other than for dealings between you and the gov't for income purposes, should be eviscerated.
I had one employer including the SIN on my paystubs. We asked politely for them to remove that, and they complied immediately.
