Just for general understanding, are you saying that you 1) have a strange laptop? or 2) have a timemachine, and uninstalling Windows will cause it to send you back in time?
Hey, if Canada values oil, gas etc so much that it is willing to poop all over the environment, then, yeah, 3rd world country - sorry if that upsets your view of your homecountry.
It kind of is when the companies are known not to plug the holes properly once they're done with an area. It's a problem in my province, which has caused some uproar, justifiably.
So fracking is not bad, if the companies doing it aren't bad, but because the companies in whichever 3rd world country you live in are not subject to regulations and/or control, fracking is bad...
After moving to Belgium, I took drivers-lessons, just to be sure I caught the main differences (legal etc) between back home and Belgium. By the 2nd session, I was getting nervous because of the comments made by the instructors (there were 2, alternating) about how I was doing things in traffic, that they completely had forgotten, like checking blind spots before turning...
Yeah, even their instructors are incompetent, no wonder the drivers are dangerous.
There is a slight issue here: Not everything is completely lacking in security, in the IoT world.
Yes, there is likely a HUGE PILE of stuff out there, where security is flawed beyond repair, on devices doing critical things, but there are also companies that at least try to make safe equipment and have their gear reviewed.
So, before we reject all things IoT, how about we start by accepting those shown to be decent?
*Cue observations about nothing corporate is decent*
Seems you're correct, and I remembered wrong - 811 megs physical reported by free:)
Still, my argument stands: The device works OK, outside of Android apps, and 2.0 gig is the lowest they could get away with... Turns out, 2.0 gig is also the highest the CPU on the tablet can handle.
Saved cost, by going with a chip that wasn't heavily subsidized by Intel? I don't think so. The HW specs are pretty much centered around the Intel® Atom Processor Z3735F, that was offered to them at (supposedly) dumping-prices.
The global platinum market is only $10 billion/year, which is not a lot of money to fund an asteroid mining mission, and to safely land the platinum ore on the ground.
I think that the "platinum group metals" the previous poster talked about, consists of more than just platinum.
From using my 0.5 gig ram Jolla phone, I'll observe that the OS seems a lot more frugal with memory than the couple of Android phones I have laying around somewhere.
2.0 gig is pretty much the lowest amount they could do with the Android Emulation, but for the native apps, not going to be much of an issue.
As for the "QUAD CORE" device being 64-bit, then the rumor-mill is saying that they've basically been given an SoC to use - if that's the case, there's no reason to start screaming about idiotic design decisions, since using a more expensive solution would have been, well, idiotic.
Curious - was recalling attempts to redefine "Chocolate", to deal with the falling availability, and increase in price. If this goes forward, wont we just see candy-bars with effectively little-to-no cocoa content, being sold as Chocolate?
Side-note: I've had chocolate bars in the US (random stuff bought at e.g. 7-11 and Walmart - I suspect the US already messed up the definition of "Chocolate" long time ago. Disclaimer: I live in Brussels, and pay several times the prices I saw in the US, for my chocolate when I want something decent.
The root cause of the lack of interest is that our nation's population is so spread out, you can't get rail to move you to your destination faster than a car, no matter how fast the train runs.
Even in places where the traffic slows to an absolute crawl every day during rushhour(s)?
Netflix has branched into countries outside of the US already - Playstation Vue is for "select customers" in 3 US cities?
Add in the platform limits (PS3/PS4 vs everything), content (Netflix has a semi-decent selection already) and name recognition (Netflix is known globally as TV), and this thing is much too little, much too late.
Seriously, if you bought a faulty product, take it back to the store. If they refuse to take it back and give a refund, get as many other people as you can, to do the same - especially effective if they do it at the same time. The fact that it is a video-game doesn't matter.
Also, brush up on consumer protection laws - a LOT of countries have laws on products being Fit For Purpose or meeting the criteria of Merchantability (yes, even in the US, from what I'm told)
Careful ... you keep this up, and systemd will start to come with its own nVidia driver for the 3D-enabled admin-UI

Disclaimer: I was from China
Was? And now you're no longer from China? :p

just to be that guy ...

Is the "Redundant" mod a +1, or a -1?

The array covers over 3000km. I doubt trenching fiber to every resident in that area would be cheap at all.
Since it appears to be a line, can't be too expensive ... if it was 3000sqkm, it would be silly-expensive.
Just one? oki: http://blog.lifx.co/2014/06/29...

you "could of had one" ?
Sorry, English is not my native language, why do you have the word "of" doing in that structure?
so, British?

Basically, a different chip would have resulted in higher costs.

They realized they couldn't sell Windows to Munchen, DE, if it was called Windows Nein - is all about replacing LiMux.
So there's a business-case to be made, for starting a company whose sole purpose is to sign contracts requiring ISPs to fiddle with internet services?

What I learned, is that it works on humans too - just need to keep the human underwater, inhaling seawater with Isoflurane.
