This can be the fallback of the quack.
This can also be the simple truth.
Most people do not like having their world turned upside down. People who have spent their career doing something, anything, do not like hearing of a better way...if that better way disrupts their world, threatens their income or otherwise challenges them more than they would like.
If any of that last paragraph is news to you, then welcome to the real world.
I will allow the possibility that this guy's theory is a non-starter.
I will also allow the possibility that this guy's theory is a work of pure genius.
Calling someone a "quack like this guy", without any reason to do so, is embarrassing to those of us trying to be objective and scientific. However it is surprisingly common among academics.
I have seen outright hostility. I have seen expressed interest that leads to non-communication without reasons. I have had the "crackpot" label leveled against me. And I have seen, above all else, a total lack of expressed interest or any effort at analysis, by academics.
These are the behaviors of a group who feel their gravy train is threatened. And yes it is.
I have run into this same closed mindedness in academics. I suggest reading Rupert Sheldrake's "The Science Delusion" -- YouTubeable -- also called "The Dogma Of Science". Then consider that universities had religious origins. After that, give up on academics and just post your theory on your own web site (where it will be largely ignored).
There is only so much you can do when a small group control everything. Better theories are the very last thing they want.
I remember one game in particular where I'm an officer down
Ok, that was a new term to me, so I dusted off my Wiki and found it is a term for Bishop in just three languages/cultures, with the predominant one being Russian.
Less is more in automotive design. High strength steels of the past ten years have brought better gas mileage without compromise. I'm sure this will make things one stage better.
So you take the Costco stamps approach. You carry the ridiculously-large-cardboard-covered-in-fancy-printing thingy to the cashier...and they give you a tiny roll of stamps. Ridiculously-large-cardboard-covered-in-fancy-printing thingy then gets reused by Costco.
The user should have a choice. How about the first 5 times it boots up, it gives the user a choice? As well as a check box to "make this selection permanent"?
Well, alcohol is a solvent like water is a solvent.
Like dissolves like. Alcohol and water are polar molecules, so those looking for their polar solvent fix could substitute water for alcohol and pocket the savings.
Traditional "solvent", like say Turpentine or paint thinner is a non-polar molecule. Used to dissolve other non-polar molecules, like alkyd paint, or grease.
The "Using half the screen" feature is not good. And 3 levels of nesting is insufficient. Speaking of slashdot nesting, why don't nested comment systems allow users to set their own level of nesting?
Slashdot forums are now infested with social justice warriors and organized causes censoring and controlling vast swaths of content to make sure it maintains their particular view on the world.
In what way should anybody be surprised that a wearable, wireless device has implemented security in a completely incompetent way?
Right. Since Fitbit wearers are the product, to a vast array of companies wanting personal information, it sounds like the Fitbit is designed exactly how they want it designed -- to increase the value of Fitbits in the ultimate marketplace.
When you put an overrated mod on a post, you don't have to assign a reason to what you are doing. "Overrated because I say so". It is a worse than pointless moderation. If it is a troll/flame, mark it as a troll/flame. If you just happen to not agree, you can reply but otherwise too bad for you.
My particular mod bomber(s) wait for a few days after I have posted, then fire off a couple of down mods. They figure, quite rightly, that most people have moved on, so there will be few who come along later to reverse their down-mods.
Hence my point about the need for all of us to meta-mod -- to moderate the moderators, and thus keep them honest.
However, I have had someone get annoyed with me and use some kind of bot to mod down every single post that I made.
You are not alone. Shows the importance of meta-moderating... Also, Soylent is taking the route of getting rid of the overrated mod, a mod bomber favorite.
You're doing it again.

Good luck.

(2) Since I didn't express my own worldview, I am not sure how my worldview could be left behind.
(3) Did I say anything was "getting worse"? If anything, things are the same as they have been for the past x thousand years.
(4) if anyone seems to have an eroding worldview, it would appear to be you, Frank.

This seems like more of a big deal to me.
Then why is inflation the very first "unsolved problem" on this hefty Wikipedia page?
Mr. Siegel's wonderfully know-it-all blog post is based on inflation...i.e. the assumed explanation for an unsolved problem.
Preston said it even earlier.
