You are a idiot and a sheep that has been programed by your federal government in to thinking states should get back the right that were always theirs.

Tell me, how was the budget deficit doing when the states held most of these rights? Now we have layer upon layer upon layer of bureaucracy at the federal level spending to their hearts content. There is no balances anymore.

Not sure what fantasy land you are living in, but laws are laws, and a federal department isn't needed to enforce those laws. And BTW, only a idiot would think that is a department of federal government went away that we would all revert to racism in a matter of days. You think that because you have not a clue what to think other then what people tell you to think.

The Federal Department of Education didn't come around until 1979. We still had public education before that. The cost for it, even adjusted for inflation, has gone up widely, while test score have fallen.

You seem to be reading the short clip from above, then making a judgement based on your own conclusion as to what his plan would mean. Just because a department is gone doesn't mean the agencies under it would be gone also. To suggest such is being obtuse to the fact that something has to change in this country for it to be sustainable going forward.

Berkshire owns derivatives tied to about $63 billion in assets. Think that has anything to do with it? If he is so holy in his quests then why is he saying one thing and doing another. I read a story about 2 month ago about Buffett and his statement and it was broken down like this: "Mr. Buffett owns about one-quarter of his investment company Berkshire Hathaway, and his shares are worth about $38 billion. This wealth is mostly stored in what are technically called "unrealized capital gains." Eventually when those gains are converted into income, he will pay a capital gains tax. Even so, in 2008 Berkshire paid $3 billion in corporate taxes. And since Mr. Buffett is the principal owner, he shoulders a big share of that tax."

Here is a link to the Wall Street Journal story about Buffett's comment. Call it bullshit if you want.

Warren Buffet is very successful but that statement it stupid. If he feels so bad, then why does he have his income structured in such a way that his statement is mildly true? Truth is when you add all the taxes he really pays through corporate taxes on his investment firm that he is the majority holder in, he pays a massive amount more then his secretary could even think of paying, percentage wise and of course money wise. His statement is only true because he is paid a income on unrealized capital gains, which he ends up paying a capital gains tax on, which also is MUCH lower then if it were a straight up federal income tax.

So true. Here we have a school district that "updated" most all their classrooms in the district with HD projectors, interactive white boards, Blue Ray DVD and sound systems. This same district asked teachers for concessions last year. Meanwhile the police department there has a average salary of $114k a year and refuses to make concessions. Politicians don't want to spend anything on educating our children, but will spend all sorts of cash on arresting the uneducated that break the law. They can't make money off the schools anymore, so police and fire are now the focus of wasting tax payers dollars.

Dumbing down has been a political agenda for years. If you can see that, then you are a product of this system. You may not be dumb in a sense, but you are sure blind to the facts that our education systems turn out less and less competent people in to the world. A person less likely to seek the truth through education is less likely to question political corruption.

Proof is easy to find. Look at what public districts spend per child each year, then compare the cost to what a private school would cost. 9 times out of 10 the public school spends more, yet they turn out less educated children then their private counterparts.

  25. Re:Was there demand for this? on GE Unveils Fridge-Recycling Behemoth · · Score: 1

I can see the point you are trying to make. There are flaws though. Your price to operate is a little off considering that fridges now a days have more issues and break down much more frequently then they ever used to. My mothers fridge had issues after 3 years and required a new control board at a cost of $300 to replace. That right there would wipe out any potential saving in the form of less energy used. The repair man even told her that most companies make them to fail so they can make money on parts replacement. Then you have a fridge that I have in my garage that is a 1972 model that is still kicking or a 1970 model freezer that I gave to a buddy that is still kicking strong. The fridge I just replaced was one from 1998 and the repair man said it was too expensive to fix compared to what I could get a new one for. That doesn't sound like the fridge companies are out to become green or use less energy, they are out to make money period.

Like I said the money that they will give you as a "trade in" for a running fridge is way less then what could be obtained from either reselling it or scraping it for metal and gas reclamation. They are doing this just to make money, otherwise they would be giving a reasonable amount since they require the fridge to be working. That is why the gas reclamation is the key. That must be where the real value is to them since I guarantee they reuse it.
